The people who deny the scientific understanding that sex and gender are two different things?

They got that from Churches, from the TV, from Politicians.
They didn't acquire that belief through observation of facts and application of logic.
if they had used facts and logic, they'd agree with the scientists.
But they didn't. Thus, facts and logic won't change their minds.

Some conservatives are probably intellectual capable of understanding that's true.

But they can't admit it, because it contradicts the #1 idea of their belief system, which is Males are made superior to Females by our Creator.

If a woman can choose to be a man, their dogma that males are superior because that's how G-d made them... kinda falls apart.

Opposition to this doctrine is perceived as an existential threat. That's an accurate perception.

It's akin to why the Capitalist nations have to boycott and embargo the Socialist nations. It would be very bad for Capitalism if it turns out Socialism isn't as awful as Capitalism claims. So Capitalism does everything it can to undermine Socialism, including starting a war in Vietnam, which Capitalism actually lost.
