Climate breakdown is occurring more rapidly with the heating rate almost doubling, according to research that excludes the effect of natural factors behind the latest scorching temperatures.

More from the article ...

... It found global heating accelerated from a steady rate of less than 0.2C per decade between 1970 and 2015 to about 0.35C per decade over the past 10 years. The rate is higher than scientists have seen since they started systematically taking the Earth's temperature in 1880.

"If the warming rate of the past 10 years continues, it would lead to a long-term exceedance of the 1.5C (2.7F) limit of the Paris agreement before 2030," said Stefan Rahmstorf, a scientist at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and co-author of the study.

Extreme heat in recent years has been pushed higher by natural fluctuations -- such as solar cycles, volcanic eruptions, and the weather pattern El Nio -- that have led scientists to question whether startling temperature readings are outliers or the result of an increase in global heating. ...

I'd like to thank Trump for cutting off the flow of Middle East oil, thus solving the global warming problem. (snark)

But yeah, we can't stop our addiction to polluting energies. We should have at least been able to progress to a point in the debate where we could accept the science and then debate about how serious the threat is and what do about it, pragmatically. Instead, we have completely brain dead non-debates. Some people just don't want to take responsibility for living in actual reality.

Oh, we should have been working on human caused global warming ever since the 1960's, in a unified battle as we fought in WWII. But instead the greedy Republican Party just nominated idiot after idiot, people like Trump who denied human caused global warming even as the Florida coastline was diminishing...so the big oil and natural gas boys could profit mightily and pay off Republicans in Congress. We are totally and permanently screwed...life in some areas like the desert southwest will be dangerously hot.

"Eighty international scientific societies have endorsed the concept of a primarily human-caused climate crisis that is already starting to threaten the health and well-being of millions, and soon to be billions, of people in the next few decades. The total number of scientific organizations that dispute this is zero. If you were watching a basketball game where the score was 80 to 0, with one minute left in the fourth quarter, and you decided to bet your entire nest egg on that losing team, no one would argue that you were not severely delusional. ... Inability to discern reality is the hallmark of schizophrenia."

Easy fix.

Stop testing and saving data. Then you won't have this problem!

"Slow the Testing Down": Trump explicitly said, "When you do testing to that extent, you're going to find more people, you're going to find more cases. So I said to my people, 'Slow the testing down, please'".

Pedophilia.

Women's rights.

Civil rights.

The future of America.

The future of his children.

Quite a would you're leaving behind, more broken and hateful than the one you were raised in.

Best of luck.

Some people just don't want to take responsibility for living in actual reality.

They wear red MAGA hats so they're easy to identify.

Also look for oversized Trump flags, confederate flags and/or Swastikas.

Joe Biden: I will get rid of oil and gas.

Sold the SPRs to attempt a win in the midterms, pulled back on ban for drilling leases..

Go on, morons... Keep pointing yourselves out.

Odd time to bring up global warming, after the coldest winter in decades. Besides, the globalists have decided that building data centers is more important than global warming.

Odd time to bring up global warming, after the coldest winter in decades.

Why do these stupid f*&^s insist on opening their ignorant face ---- with such ridiculous comments loaded with rudimentary misunderstanding?

"Odd time to bring up global warming, after the coldest winter in decades."

Except that it wasn't.

The winter of 2025-2026 (December"February) was the second-warmest on record.

Second-warmest in 131 years of record-keeping, falling just behind the 2023-2024 winter.

The primary term for being proud of or confident in your own ignorance is the Dunning-Kruger effect, a cognitive bias where people with limited knowledge overestimate their competence. Another specific, albeit older, term is Bayard, which describes someone with supreme self-confidence born of ignorance.

I should have qualified it. It was the coldest winter in decades on planet Earth, what planet are you talking about?

#25 | POSTED BY VISITOR_

And that is still not correct. It was the coldest winter in the NORTHEAST of America in decades. That would have been a correct statement. So it would depend on where you live obviously.

But it was still the second warmest on record in AMERICA because it was a lot warmer in the west than normal.

I live on Earth OG. Which Earth do you live on?

As of March 2026, the winter of 2025-2026 has been reported as the coldest in over 20 years for parts of the U.S. Northeast and mid-Atlantic, with some areas experiencing the chilliest conditions since 1985-1986. This contrasts with the western U.S. and other global regions, which experienced warmer-than-average, record-breaking temperatures.

Yes, yours is an excellent Dunning Kruger response.

You changed it from globally to locally.

You completely missed the point, and then doubled down on denying the science.

#30 | Posted by snoofy at 2026-03-10 12:59 PM | Reply

You're right, this winter wasn't global it was only the coldest winter in decades in the Northern Hemisphere.

No, it was the coldest winter in decades in areas you decided to cherry-pick.

Yes, I admit to claiming the Winter Season in the Northern Hemisphere was colder than normal. So only half the globe. However, the Summer season in Australia was also cooler than normal.

#35 | Posted by visitor_ at 2026-03-10 01:07 PM | Reply

Not that it means anything, but winter here was way warmer than last year. I think the coldest it got was -25C. Last year it was -42C.

"Climate scientists emphasize that colder-than-usual winters do not disprove global warming; rather, they fit within a warming trend where, despite fewer, shorter cold snaps, rapid Arctic heating can disrupt the polar vortex, forcing cold air into lower latitudes.

Winters are warming faster than other seasons, reducing the overall frequency of freezing nights."

Of course, 99 percent of climate scientists know less about the climate than do Trumpers.
