Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, March 11, 2026

11 March 2026 12:10pm GMT Three cargo ships have been hit by projectiles in the Strait of Hormuz. The Thailand-flagged bulk carrier Mayuree Naree was struck and damaged about 11 nautical miles north of Oman, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO). Twenty sailors were rescued, but three remain missing, Thai authorities said. A second ship, the Marshall Islands-flagged bulk carrier Star Gwyneth, was hit by a projectile 50 miles north-west of Dubai. The vessel suffered hull damage but all crew members are safe. A third vessel, a Japan-flagged container ship, sustained minor damage near the United Arab Emirates.

It was not immediately clear who launched the projectiles, or whether they were drones or missiles. However Iran has claimed control of the shipping lane, a critical route for global oil shipments, and threatened to strike any vessel passing through it.

Yes. Trump is surprised. No joke. The five minutes he spent thinking about starting a war in Iran did not include this possibility.

It is entirely possible, no snark, that he did not know what a "strait" was until yesterday.

Strait of Hormuz? Fuhgedaboudit: 3 Ships Hit

Straight of Homoz? Is this one of those oxymorons?

I listened to the most recent pentagon briefing. As painful as it was I listened to the whole thing even thru whiskey Pete's lunacy.

When asked about the plans to keep the straits open Gen Cain assured us that they were currently working on the Plan. They have concept of a Plan for sure! Meaning they don't have a plan. And did not have one before the start of the war. (The war that is NOT A WAR!)

But they ARE working on it and it should be ready in oh let's say ... two weeks?

Iran is starting to mine the gulf.

This will work out well.

This is what happens when you have incompetent talk show hosts running the government.

Brawndo has what plants crave.

Sounds like Elon Musk's promises that never come to fruition he uses to pump TSLA during investor calls/shareholder meetings.

This statement loses no value for its misattribution to Sun Tzu: "Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory, Tactics without strategy is noise before defeat"

For the big tankers, the Strait of Hormuz offers a pair of two-mile-wide navigable channels separated by a two-mile-wide buffer zone.

A properly functioning NSC would have flagged this fact early on in the - I hesitate to use the term - decision making process leading to war. Because if you can't solve that problem, you have a big problem.

Prepare for this WH doing the, Taco on Iran War Boogie.

Let me make this perfectly clear Corky

Piggy is in no way positioned to successfully Taco.

Iran would have to buy into that Taco

They are winning

Understand that

Iran is winning.

Iran has zero incentive to stop fighting

If they stop they lose their advantage

If they stop Israel and the US will rearm and come back better prepared a year from now.

Iran understands that.

Piggy has shown himself utterly untrustworthy. He withdrew from an important agreement and attacked Iran TWICE in the midst of negotiations.

Iran has zero reason to agree to any ceasing of hostilities.

Iran's response has been devastating and a HUGE surprise to our military. Think about that, we spend a trillion dollars per year and are SURPRISED by the response from Iran?

That is Pearl Harbor levels of incompetence.

Israel is getting pounded by Iranian missiles and Iran is not even sending that many there. Israel's interceptors simply cannot either keep up with the number of incoming missiles OR cannot intercept the faster missiles.

It is decidedly in Iran's favor to extend hostilities until there is REAL pain and Piggy has to come crawling for a truce.

That is going to mean serious concessions by Piggy, like withdrawal from the middle east.

Do you think Piggy is willing to do that?

He would sooner use a couple of tactical nukes to get his way

No, Piggy will not Taco, it is too late for that

Thanks magat scum.

Iraq has shut down port operations.

This is getting fucking real bad.

Dow down to 30,000? I can see it

Oil at $200/barrel? I can see it.

Here's one for you

Noncombat fire on USS Gerald Ford injures two sailors
Two American sailors have been wounded in a noncombat-related fire on the USS Gerald Ford aircraft carrier, the US military says.

The blaze originated in the ship's main laundry area, CENTCOM said, adding that there was no damage to the ship's propulsion plant and the two soldiers were in stable condition.

"The aircraft carrier remains fully operational," it said.

Anyone really believe this from our government?

That during active, high volume attack on Iran that the laundry stewards dropped a cigarette into a laundry basket?

You think something like that rises to the level of a CENTCOM press release?

They had to assure us the propulsion wasn't effected?!? Like WTF!?! What does a small fire in the laundry room have to do with the engines?????????

Really?

Assume for a second that this press release is a lie?

What does that tell you?

Iran hit our carrier?

That would not be good.

I am not saying it happened or even likely, but it is a realistic possibility.

Yes, I fully admit this is conjecture, but our government is CLEARLY lying about the cost of this war.
