Quoting the Bible, More Democrats Lean Into Being Christian
For generations now, the GOP has been far more comfortable than its opponents in quoting Bible verses and talking about how Christianity informs its politics.

...But a new crop of Democratic leaders is hoping to flip the script. Members of Congress across the United States -- from Sen. Raphael Warnock of Georgia to Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington, along with Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear -- are talking more about how their public service is rooted in their Christian faith. State Rep. James Talarico, a Presbyterian seminary student who is the democratic nominee for U.S. Senate seat in Texas, earned national attention for his unabashed quoting of the Bible -- highlighted in a viral interview with podcaster Joe Rogan. Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett, who lost to Mr. Talarico in the primary on March 3, talks about her Baptist faith. And a cadre of faith-based political consultants stands ready to guide Democrats again this election cycle, hoping for a new boldness. ...

So.... summing it up...
Democrats seems to be turning to the Bible to get votes, while Republicans seem to be turning to autocracy to get votes.
Quite the curious turn of events.

The GOP was never Christian.
The GOP was never patriotic.
The GOP was never manly.
Because the GOP was never these things, any pig could have stepped in to lead them.
And so here we are.

This not a good thing. More religious wackos in government is the last thing we need.

Knowing a bunch of clever quotes form some minor book of the Old Testament is a fun party trick. Living God's Word, as written in the Gospels, is quite another. I have no problem with any person, left, right or center, who lives The Word. Remember all: Jesus warned his followers off the hypocrites he and they encountered in their daily lives, and that warning still rings true today...

Religious wackos like Obama?
Perhaps we need more atheist wackos like Stalin?
In Western Culture, atheists actually make quite good Cultural Christians; many of them more naturally leaning towards the actual teachings we have recorded of Jesus than we see from far right politically-motivated Christians-in-name-only.

Wrong direction.
We need the GOP to drop the religious shtick and for religious beliefs to be personal and kept that way.
If it drives your views, fine, but if you're a government official and you have to cite the Bible to support a policy, you need to rethink the policy.

It's fun pointing out the GOP's religious hypocrisy and fundamental misreading of the faith.

You want a dumb voter base of dumb follow-the-leader types: look no further to the people who think reading the same book every week is learning.

When nearly 3/4ths of your chosen holy book is routinely quoted by seemingly well-educated, ethnosupremacist psychopaths in order to justify genocide and the wholesale slaughter of innocents, then perhaps it's time to find a new holy book.

Lamp,
"Democrats seems to be turning to the Bible to get votes"
Turning to the Bible isn't the same as turning to Jesus.
I've said before, it is possible to turn the Bible into an idol and worship it and not worship God.
I've seen it happen.

"it is possible to turn the Bible into an idol and worship it and not worship God."
Or, in this case, worship the orange heifer who regularly breaks over half of The Ten Commandments.

@#13 ... Turning to the Bible isn't the same as turning to Jesus. ...
It is good to see you admit that.
The GOP has turned to Bible stomping to get votes.
Not to Jesus, but to Bible stomping.

Whiskeytown - A Song For you (1999) www.youtube.com
Lyrics excerpt...

... Oh my land is like a wild goose Wanders all around everywhere Trembles and it shakes til every tree is loose It rolls the meadows and it rolls the nails So take me down to your dance floor And I won't mind the people when they stare Paint a different color on your front door And tomorrow we will still be there Jesus built a ship to sing a song to It sails the rivers and it sails the tide Some of my friends don't know who they belong to Some can't get a single thing to work inside So take me down to your dance floor And I won't mind the people when they stare Paint a different color on your front door And tomorrow we will still be there I love you, darlin', now I'm leaving I can see the sorrow in your eyes Hope you know a lot more than you believe in Hope the sun don't hurt you when you cry ...
So take me down to your dance floor And I won't mind the people when they stare Paint a different color on your front door And tomorrow we will still be there
Jesus built a ship to sing a song to It sails the rivers and it sails the tide Some of my friends don't know who they belong to Some can't get a single thing to work inside
I love you, darlin', now I'm leaving I can see the sorrow in your eyes Hope you know a lot more than you believe in Hope the sun don't hurt you when you cry ...

I have found that a true Christian is one I, an atheist, not need fear or hesitate to interact with...they have their faith and its responsibilities and the rest of the world has theirs. I wish Talarico well.

There are about 45,000 different Christian Sects or denominations worldwide. So. To be specific. They hate the White Christian Nationalist kind who think this country should be a theocracy.
As any red blooded patriotic American should who reveres and respects the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence which are our sacred founding documents.
