Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, March 30, 2026

A New York Times interactive feature published Sunday takes an in-depth look at President Donald Trump's proposed White House ballroom ahead of a critical federal vote Thursday -- with architects warning the project's rushed timeline has left serious design flaws unaddressed that could permanently alter the nation's most iconic address.

President Trump's ballroom design has rushed toward construction, with little time for public review of this major addition to the White House. Architects say it shows.

Don't build this abomination.

If it is built, tear it down.

When Trump dies, we don't want help remembering him.

The "ballroom" would be a nice place to exhibit trump's stuffed corpse. If any of it survives the conflagration.

I find it sadly humorous that now Der Dotard is talking up the 'military' necessity for this demonstration of narcissistic destruction and tastelessness. A week or two from now, our president will be blaming 'the generals' for this slap in the face of every American. It will be 'Oh, they wanted it, I never did. They need it for national security. Otherwise I don't know anything about this...' Clip and save...

They're just trying to keep it in the "planning stage" until blimpo croaks... then they're outa there.

One of those columns needs to be Plexiglas and have Barron encased in it.

If they're going to reference something the architects said...then maybe quote them.

That's deliberately left out of the article.

I have no problem believing architects expressing concern over something like this but not quoting them is a red flag.

" not quoting them is a red flag."

They might've wanted to avoid the death threats.

YOU KNOW there would be death threats, to any very public critic of His Orangeness.

And not only is the design irrational, it is ugly, as if Melania used AI to design it. One wonders if President Newsom would be able to tear it down.

How does this avoid the death threats? The architects' identity is a matter of public record.

So if somebody's willing to send a death threat over criticism and it's gonna happen anyway, because we know who the architects are.

Getting blackballed is probably a more realistic concern.

The construction business leans heavily Republican, as Republicans are more likely to give developers zoning easements and tax incentives to build their ------ properties.

What a riot, coming from the DR guy with the most sand in his ears.

Eb, 24 hours ago, you couldn't admit the outlets you watch didn't inform you Trump brought up banning trans athletes at the Olympics recently.

That sounds like you "don't want the truth, (you) just want to be told what (you) wanna hear."

Quite the opposite.
Trump raped those girls.
Tens of millions of Republicans know it.
Tens of millions of Republicans don't care.

That's the actual awful truth in all this, Eberly.

Judge halts White House ballroom construction project
www.newsnationnow.com

... A federal judge on Tuesday halted construction on President Trump's White House ballroom project.

U.S. District Judge Richard Leon said that no statute "comes close" to granting Trump the authority he claims he has to execute the $400 million project, barring construction from continuing until Congress authorizes its completion.

"The President of the United States is the steward of the White House for future generations of First Families," Leon wrote. "He is not, however, the owner!" ...
