... From Bangladesh to Slovenia, fuel rationing has throttled transportation, frustrating leaders dealing with the fallout of a war they did not want. In Muslim-majority countries, anti-U.S. narratives are flooding the airwaves, often with tacit permission from governments.

Even America's allies in NATO have limited their help to the U.S., with some stressing the Trump administration did not consult them before launching the fight with Iran.

The war appears to be accelerating what some see as a U.S. break-up with much of the rest of the planet since Trump returned to office and began flexing U.S. economic and military might in haphazard ways, including tariffs.

"A lot of people are fed up with how chaotic this war has been and scared of the potential economic impact, but I haven't seen any major protests in response," a Washington-based Asian diplomat said, having been granted anonymity because the topic is sensitive. "If a more reasonable person becomes the next president, the image of the U.S. might improve, but for policymakers this raises some tough long-term questions about the alliance, how far we can go to stay aligned with the U.S. and what we should do if we can't rely on the U.S. anymore."

In the latest sign of foreign powers distancing themselves, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney described his country's economic ties with the U.S. as "weaknesses" to correct in a video message released Sunday. ...

Pres Trump seems to be bringing the US closer to Russia and isolating the US from its decades-long allies.

Why?

My guess might also be that the NATO allies had a real concern that if Pres Trump got them involved in the war, then Pres Trump could just walk away from his war, leaving our NATO allies stuck with finishing it.

Given that Pres Trump currently seems to be desperately looking for an off-ramp away from the war he started, I no longer think the above scenario is all that far-fetched.

I agree.

But now, it does not seem to be just America.

Look at what he has done to the global economy because of his war with Iran.

How long will it be before the price of gas (gasoline and natural gas) no longer becoms the issue, but the availability of that gas becomes the issue?

If you're trying to look stupid, you've succeeded. You're 180 degrees off.

Asia Energy Squeeze Worsens as Supply Cushion Melts
oilprice.com

... Asian countries have been buying all the oil they can get their hands on since the Strait of Hormuz shut down for business. Thanks to ample supply of seaborne crude oil, mostly consisting of sanctioned Russian and Iranian crude, the shock from the fallout of the war has been somewhat mitigated -- but not for long. As that supply runs out, the shock is looming ever larger. ...

The poorer Asian nations have been the first to start running out of options. Because of limited financial resources, these nations have not been able to build the kind of oil reserve that their wealthier neighbors have now tapped to deal with the crisis. Several countries in Southeast Asia have begun implementing energy austerity measures, with the Philippines declaring a national energy emergency. ...

Sri Lanka announces 4-day work week, declares Wednesdays off to save fuel amid Hormuz crisis
www.msn.com

... Sri Lanka has moved to a four-day workweek as part of emergency measures to conserve fuel reserves amid a deepening global energy crisis triggered by tensions around the Strait of Hormuz. According to the BBC, the Sri Lankan government has declared one additional day each week as a holiday for public institutions, effectively cutting the workweek to four days for many sectors. Starting March 18, Wednesdays are declared public holidays, reducing transportation fuel consumption. ...

OK, here is how I view the oil supply from the Middle East ...

1) The Middle East is accustomed to pumping oil and loading it upon tankers for export.

2) That has changed. Tankers no longer seem to be available.

3) So then the ME started filling up their [quite limited] tank storage capability with what they were pumping from the ground.

4) those storage tanks now seem to be full, so the ME has stopped pumpig oil from the ground, shutting down an industry.

5) Meanwhile, the oil tankers that had been able to leave the Strait of Hormuz when it was fully open before Pres Trump's war have been reaching their destination ports.

6) But, there are few, if any, tankers behind them.

I am a military veteran,
I have been saying since his first term that his mouth and utter lack of diplomacy is going to get America blown off the face of the planet,
I hate it with all my heart when I'm right,
I am glad i live near where he hangs out, That way we won't have to suffer through famine and the horrors of war on our soil, We will be wiped out in the first bomb drop,
that will be a blessing,

I would phrase this diminution of American influence differently.
Americans voted in a Russian asset to its highest office, twice, and along the way that asset has weakened our Constitutional Republic to the point it just may fall, as the Soviet Union fell, as Russian democracy fell to the gangsters.
Sure, a time of mourning, a time to preserve our pride by speaking out, and voting, knowing all the while that almost none of us get to vote where and when it matters, in the huge corporate boardrooms that first delighted in offshoring American jobs, and now is delighting in turning the American workforce as just an army of robots and software pretend people.
