AIPAC Public Enemy Number One, Muslim NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D):

"People want to know: What are you going to do for rent? What are you going to do for housing? What are you going to do for gas? What are you going to do for groceries? We have to have answers to that."

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Mamdani, who was mayor-elect at the time, was "clearly the leader of the Democratic Party" and US Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) pointed to Mamdani's successful campaign as a playbook for how to mobilize the party.

BLUF: Corporatist and AIPAC Democrats are "GOP Lite" who want to maintain DHS and ICE and treat progressives like David Hogg, Graham Platner (D-ME), and Zohran Mamdani (D-NYC) as the enemy because these three are not warmongers who support the mass murder of Muslims in the Gaza Strip, West Bank, Lebanon, or Iran. Progressives like them want the US government to spend money on the US health care system, not mass surveillance of Americans or funding Israel's world class universal healthcare system.

"40,000 pro-Israel online operatives target Americans with PSYOP 24/7" and like stalkers, some of the trolls from this nefarious legion will immediately attack this OP.

Clinton sold out Labor for Wall St. Gave up on working men for soccer moms. It hasn't worked for anyone but Wall St.

The focus on Working People dimmed when Republicans made Money into Speech, Corporate Personhood into Law, and voters as afterthoughts to Campaign Financing.

Until that changes, expect more of the same; Dems can't unilaterally completely disarm from corporate financing until Republicans are forced to do so.

That's the real world.

"The economgy, as a whole, has lost its focus on working people"

Since I started getting stock options, my annual capital gains growth exceeds my annual wage growth. My salary went up maybe 5k last year. my capital gains were about 35k last year. 30k this year and it's not even Q3.

This economy delivers no *significant* growth, unless you're in the Investor Class

The tax code is built to grow the wealth of the investor class, and tax the wealth of the working class.

I only paid 15% on my long term capital gains last year. I paid a closer to 20% on my labor gains.

The system is built for rich people. Rich people pay a lower rate than the middle class.

" I only paid 15% on my long term capital gains last year. I paid a closer to 20% on my labor gains."

There's the problem right there.

The trust fund baby getting $55,000 in Wal-Mart dividends pays ZERO in federal taxes.

Meanwhile , the janitor who profits $55,000 from sweat of the brow labor owes over $10,000 in federal taxes.

This is a tax code written by people who don't know how to write tax codes.

They know what to write.

They write what the rich people tell them to.

Obamacare, for example.

"The trust fund baby getting $55,000 in Wal-Mart dividends pays ZERO in federal taxes."

To be fair, they have to deal with an outsized amount of paper cuts when opening those dividend checks.

It's brutal.

Dividend income isn't taxed, I didn't know that.

I don't have enough money to care about dividends, other than dividend reinvestment obviously.

What the rich people do, telle if this is right Danforth

Take a loan with their assets as collateral, the loan income isn't taxed, and use it like workers use their income. Essentially taking the capital gain as a loan, at zero percent tax.

"They know what to write."

Exactly. The architects even admitted as much: they were out to hurt Unions, blue cities, and blue states ... especially Unions in blue cities in blue states!

They also (cynically) assumed that Democrats, when not getting a tax deduction, would stop donating to their favorite liberal causes. Meanwhile, Republicans would continue to tithe to their Church whether they got a deduction or not.

" Dividend income isn't taxed, I didn't know that."

Oh, it is, if/once it's added to other income, like wages or pensions, much like Social Security.

But the trust fund baby, getting $55,000 a year in Abbott labs dividends and no other income, pays zero federal taxes.

" What the rich people do, tell if this is right"

Frankly, I've never understood it. That person has to have some type of taxable income at some point, even if it's just money to pay back the loan.

Interest, wages, capital gains ... all taxable at a rich person's level ...

I'm clearly missing something.

" Obamacare, for example."

It barely passed.

M4A, which I was in favor of, would have been soundly defeated.

Why?

In addition to all those martialed against the ACA, the opposition would've added every single worker in a higher income bracket with better healthcare, telling them they'd be subject to a lesser health plan than they currently have ... which, sadly, was true.

And so the many must be left to suffer so the few can afford luxury.

** Despite Nefarious Trumpf Junta, NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) Working Hard for Working Class New Yorkers **

"NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) announced the "$26 for 2026" program, offering reliably priced food and drink options at participating restaurants across the city; the "NYC Neighborhood Passport" encouraging people to explore the city's immigrant communities and cultural institutions; World Cup field days at 50 public schools; and a citywide event calendar and map highlighting free and low-cost ways to enjoy the tournament throughout NYC."
