Ford Rehires 350 Engineers as AI Falls Short

"Artificial intelligence is a fantastic tool, but it's only as good as the information you use to train it," Charles Poon, Ford's vice president of vehicle hardware engineering, told reporters on a call Wednesday. "Over prior years, we didn't pay as much attention as we should have to the experience of our most knowledgeable engineers that have been with us through many product cycles."

They were. Experienced engineers fixed their quality problems. Then they fired them for AI. Then they hired them back because AI.

What is "funny" is that the least valuable fired the most valuable.

I've had pretty good luck with the half million miles I've put on my 2 Ford Rangers.

And my daughters Maverick Hybrid has been (so far) performing flawlessly and gets 40mpg.

Ford has put out crap the last few model years. I have to carry a scan tool because they have a humidity problem with the CHT {cylinder head temperature} sensor failing after weather changes on the 2.7 v6. It occurs over 10 model years without actually fixing the vulnerability at the root. The 10r80 transmissions are also failing on mass. Fords only saving grace is they aren't as bad as Chevrolet where your 6.2l self destructs multiple times per vehicle.

What a great embarrassment for America. No US President was as narcissistic, mercurial, ill-mannered, and infantile as #47.

But the biggest American embarrassment is how great American suddenly institutions like Congress, SCOTUS, Library of Congress, and the Dept. of Justice have flipped their switches to becoming tools of this authoritarian lover of dictatorships.

The world is reeling with shock how its rock-solid pro-democracy ally has changed its stripes. It is now a vile, back-stabbing, superiorly militarized unpredictable loose cannon. America is now further from being "Great" in anyone's definition.

Now when global observers describe Trump's submissive government this is what they perceive:

"Sick America. Wrong-way America. One-Way America."

Not the way to make America "Great". It's foul-mouthed President has scammed so many Americans that the rest of the free world is simply stunned.

And this mess will linger long after 20 Jan 2029 because our institutions have been exposed as venal, corrupt, rotten, and self-serving.

SCOTUS will still be there, ICE and DHS, MAGA dead-enders in the DOD and DOJ, GOP Senators, AIPAC, a hollowed out FBI and USIC, the infernal oligarchs, and the young members of the Trumpf Crime Family (TCF).

And the next non-Republican administration will have much less geld in the coffers to deal with all the problems -- malnourishment, spreading diseases, homeless people, unemployment -- all from four years of purposeful neglect and tax cuts for the wealthy who have taken the money away from our safety nets.
