35 acres+ in Miami's Wynwood neighborhood could be pretty vibrant, if it ever happens. But, it's Florida, so be advised: bring your own infrastructure.

I will say this about Florida, at least they made private companies build out their HSR fantasies.

In CA they seem to tax the crap out of everyone and never lay a mile of track.

So in this way Doc is correct FL > CA.

Look at OneIronPedo slurping Billionaire nuts because they threw out a few pennies to the masses.

These are feel good stories ONLY in America where we can't afford this ---- because had give tax cuts to billionaires yet again.

But don't worry, this nice sizeable donation means Griffin avoids even MORE taxes, gets to CONTROL the school, and can put his friends and family in positions of power.

Welcome to Pedo MAGA's Perfect America. Get back to slurping, Pedo.

But it was just fine as long as he gave the $3 billion to NYC... Am I doing this right?

Wow. In China and India too. No global competition there.

Are we going to leave it to Chinese and South Asian scholars to study US social sciences and humanities? Those specialties involve applying T&M these days. And are always good for making sense out of S&E.

Those kinds of useless degrees?

I'm thinking astrophysics might be a bit of a useless degree. Universe is 95 percent unknown matter? What's up with that? These people been sleeping in the labs?

Rightwingers never learn. Their embrace of the fascist mind-set is so instinctive that they never even realize what in reality their best laid plans will result in. If only there were some magical way to cure their delusions.

Yep. If he donated that money to Northwestern he'd be praised to the nth. But because he left Illinois for Florida the donation has to be derided.

Yeah, the same kind of takeover is happening in Colleges all over the land, here in Oregon Nike and its allies are turning the UofO into a right wing employment agency, and many programs of a social nature are being cut. Republican Party nose got into the Presidency of the University, and now the corruption of Nike is complete. People are distracted by big time sports, which is a tragedy since CTE is most likely going to be found in the brains in many football players, when a test is finally found for a living person.

Who are you directing that at? Cuz, people right of center are LOVING that Griffin fled Illinois for Florida and took all of that tax revenue with him and his employees and donating that sum to a Florida University over Northwestern is the cherry on top.

" UofO into a right wing employment agency"

That's hilarious. These universities are overwhelmingly left wing employment agencies, borderline monopolistically so and you are pissing vinegar that anyone on the right has ANY input into how these universities are run?

Didn't Northwestern just open a ~ Billion dollar stadium that holds 30,000 people?

right wing employment agency, and many programs of a social nature are being cut.

Why does cutting a "social program" mean its right-wing?

It could just be ineffective? Look at the homeless spending, are you declaring it needs more money?

What about ~$35,000 per student spending for k-12, while teachers earn peanuts? Do you think its money or structural?

This knee jerk reaction that any funding cut/freeze is a NAZI plot is hilarious, and doesn't fix anyone's problem.

2012-2025 religious studies, foreign languages, English, history are all down 40%-56%, because people don't want to be poor.

I didn't create the conditions for people getting those degrees to be underemployed, but most commerce around the world doesn't need an army of historians. There's not that many museums, and they generally don't pay that well.

"people don't want to be poor"

I know this may be a hard concept for some to understand. Money is good and having some money is important. But at a certain point in life (OI) you begin to realize that it's not always about the money.

A career choice is not always about money because long-term happiness, personal growth, and your daily well-being depend heavily on non-financial factors. Like job satisfaction.

There is a hidden cost to always only chasing the money.

A wise public servant once told me, be careful what career you path choose as you might get stuck with it a long time. Try and pick something you love to do. And so I did. Never regretted that choice.

23. Hilarious link if you're trying to make a real point.

Are you talking about people who want to be making big money in their field of major upon graduation?

That's shortsighted and stupid.

What's your average American tech student going to do with the same tech education as any other around the world ... and those students know only one language (dumb Americans), and have no sense of how people in the rest of the world live?

Cohort of one. My son was a double major. Theatre and French. Was on food stamps during acting internships.

Somehow now he's on his late 30s moving up in management in corporate America. Surprising to everyone.

One of his deals: you show me how to put together a PowerPoint, and I'll teach you how to present it so people pay attention.

Employers love theatre majors. The smart ones get out of theatre eventually, unless they truly want to be there.
