Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, October 05, 2026

Imagine starting a fire and then standing by and filming with your mobile phone while a firefighter is engulfed in flames. That is one of the scenes emerging from France's latest wave of unrest. Elsewhere, rioters have doused a teacher in petrol, looted businesses, and set vehicles and schools on fire. The fact that many of the rioters are looting while waving Algerian and Palestinian flags is just a symptom of a much larger, unspoken failure. The ostensible grievance is the condition of French education. The proposed remedy, apparently, is fewer teachers and more ashes.

"Wanna know why I don't vote Democrat? This is what they want for the US."

IOW, you can't deal with what the Republicans have actually become, so you have to make up a fake version of Democrats to hate.

Fake. Nope. I listen to what they say when they let the mask slip and I observe their policies when they are in power.

" I observe their policies when they are in power."

Then you lie about them.

Remember when you claimed censorship under Biden, or grift, or weaponization, and couldn't find any?

Now they're staring you in the face, and your reaction is "look at what someone ELSE did!"

Thanks for proving, once again, whenever The Party of Responsibility mentions responsibility, they're ALWAYS talking about SOMEONE ELSE's responsibility, and never their own.

BellBringer sees the results of MAGA governance and has determined he's okay with living in a failed nation.

That's what being a republican means. Being proud to be an absolute failure.

Republicans have control over all three branches of government and instead of posting why they're proud to be a Republican.

They've had to resort to finding imaginary scenarios to be afraid of.

It's all republicans have.

Their fear and their hate.

Congratulations America.

Which are those, specifically?

And why did you run from the recent thread where you asked for examples of voter suppression, then ran away when several posters offered multiple examples?

In all seriousness: you admire the fascist system, its thought, and its way of life.

In all seriousness: that makes you a liar, a prevaricator, a betrayer, and just a general wad of snot.

In all seriousness: there is going to be an effort to clean up this country if the House flips; one that you will oppose by being a liar, a prevaricator, a betrayer, and one general wad of snot.

My Ancestors owned a third of this country, right up the middle of it beginning at the mouth of the Mississippi River. They built things like the City of New Orleans, Baton Rouge and ports along the river. Then, they sold it to the US.

Explain how these low-life thugs in Paris are building anything but a ghetto with their violence. Examine yourself, first generation son to immigrant parents who came here for an education and a better chance of being successful than they ever could in that

" Remember when you claimed censorship under Biden, or grift, or weaponization, and couldn't find any?"

Clear examples of all of those things. You just claim that things that happened didn't actually happen.

More specifically, from the article, this is what I was referring to:

" France's third problem is a government expected to provide for and handle practically everything. French government spending as a percent of GDP is a whopping 57% (versus only 37% in the U.S.).

All that government has bought abysmal growth and stagnant incomes. In the 1980s, France's per capita GDP was roughly 93% of America's. Today it is only 72%, and the median American has about 50% more disposable income than the median Frenchman, after taxes, cash benefits, and differences in purchasing power.

When the government is the largest allocator of resources, people focus their productive energy on persuading it to allocate in their favor. The wealthy and connected do their persuading with lobbyists (or bribes). Everyone else does it in the street. Hence the French pattern: farmers, rail workers, and students always seem to be protesting something.

In a freer economy, people get ahead by focusing their productive energy on providing goods and services that others want. When the state allocates less, there is less to gain by setting buses on fire.

Want to be like France? You know how to vote

Three policies are driving France's slow-motion collapse:

Punitive minimum wage laws that price the young out of work.
Unchecked immigration that ignores cultural compatibility and assimilation.
An overgrown, suffocating state that crushes economic dynamism.
Curiously, these happen to be the crown jewels of the American progressive left. Roughly 90% of all Democrats support doubling the minimum wage. More than 70% of "strong liberals" support removing ALL immigration restrictions. And 79% of Democrats want bigger government, a share that has climbed steeply for 30 years."

Well, I guess in a metaphorical way...zero is countess.

"Ever hear of Mark Houck?"

No.

"I've provided all sorts of links in the past "

None with proof. Your "Hunter Biden's Suppressed Laptop" theory can't pass the "How was Fox, Newsmax, the WSJ, and OANN in on the censorship?" hurdle.

Your "Twitter Files" turned out to be Editors doing Editor things.

The only government pushback (CENSORSHIP!!!) was reported by Zuckerberg, who couldn't be bothered to say ABOUT WHAT, meaning it had to be embarrassing to Zuckerberg...like the Tide Pod Challenge. IOW, MAL-information. Meanwhile, you won't even condemn malinformation.

You SCREECHED about Hunter using the Biden name for personal gain, and Gomer Comer couldn't prove a single untoward act; the two most important witnesses Comer brought both testified IN FAVOR of Hunter. Now, of course, you're dead silent while ALL the Trumps grift, out in the open.

And for all your "Lawfare" claims, you've never shown a single example where Trump's behavior could've been done by the average Joe. And now, you've consistently looked the other way as Trump has turned the DOJ into his own personal vendetta machine.

And now you're claiming your proved it ALL? Nonsense. Are you lying, again? Or will you be using the "hyperbole" excuse" again?.

He got into a minor altercation with an abortion clinic volunteer. The volunteer yelled at his 12 year old son and Houck shoved the man who t then tried to press charges against Houck. Local authorities declined any prosecution. So, the Feds conducted a pre-dawn, guns drawn raid and arrested him and charged him with violating the FACE Act. He was acquitted and then successfully sued the DOJ for civil damages. Lemme guess, you don't view that as lawfare.

No ... About the only thing the government did was remind them of their own policies. The editors still decided to do what editors do, and EDIT.

You don't get to call it censorship unless the editors don't want to do something, and the government forces them to do it.

You know, kind of like what Trump has done to a number of media companies. Remember when you screeched about that? Nobody else does either.

Ballsucker's example of Biden "lawfare"

Serial harasser of women seeking reproductive care verbally abuses and curses and elderly man and then shoves him to the ground in front of his 11-year old son.

Is charged with felony obstruction of a reproductive care facility

This is what that ------- compares to Piggy ordering the DoJ to file charges against political enemies.

If that was actually true, you should be able to link to a half-dozen cases of Lawfare.

You've yet to point out a single instance where Trump was prosecuted for something you or I could do without fear of legal repercussions.

Now's your chance. Link to Lawfare against Trump. Or admit you can't, if you have any class.

Taking what was at worst a misdemeanor accounting clerical error with no victims, employing novel legal theory and securing 34 felony indictments in front of a hack activist judge. Hochul announced to a skittish business community the case was a one-off. Andrew Cuomo acknowledged that nobody other than Trump in that environment would have been charged and the case will end up scathingly trounced when it reaches appeal. Letitia James campaigned on "getting Trump" and that's before she even had a case in front of her.

States suing to have Trump removed from the ballot. Judges essentially predetermining the outcome of a presidential election.
