Is the question reading or comprehension?
At what level of reading sufficient for an adult?
Is the issue reading out loud?
Is it spelling?
I remember elementary English class grading was based on comprehension and spelling.
Pronunciation wasn't part of the grade.
I do remember highschool and kids never wanting to read out loud because they couldn't pronunciate or they couldn't read a sentence without messing it up with the next sentence.
A lot of adults can't read a simple passage out loud.
Nervousness and public speaking can be attributed to poor reading and speaking.
So glad I did Toastmasters over the years.
