I've driven through Southside Chicago several times, East St. Louis, down Fayette in Murdermore, etc. I go to 3rd Ward in Houston several times a week because that's where UH is. Can you fix ghettos or do residents have to escape it? I've only seen escape work. The safe streets in 3rd Ward are the gentrified ones. MLK in Austin is another example. White people buy & bulldoze, the residents take the check and move to the burbs where schools in better social situations are at, and their kids have better life outcomes.

You're just mad at me for pointing out the chosen strategy already failed. Shoot the messenger all you want. It doesn't bring the money back because a few states are embarking on belligerent strategies that sound good to people that already vote for the people saying it, but damage long term income.

Baker/Jackson - You can fix socio-economic gaps at home by pumping money into schools.
Brookings - The spending hikes usually go to administrative overhead and never make it to the kids.

Nope. Not overlooking it. Upper tax bracket for 2025/26 is 37%. In 2027 it's still 37%. In 2028 it's 37%. OBBBA locked those in. The pre-2018 rate was 39.6%.

2.6% didn't cause trillions more in debt, Congressional spending priorities, signed and also pushed for by Trump, did.

If you are unsympathetic to the middle and lower classes that are going to pick up the tab for wealth flight that is actively happening then I have doubts about your Americanism.

Fed still gets their cut, they dgaf if a billionaire moves.

Their actual income gets taxed, corporate income gets taxed. If they use it on a loan that's not a gain, that's a debt obligation.

4.95% to the state and 37% to the fed of whatever income he has... or 100% of $0. Illinois chose the latter. Now they can raise taxes on the middle class to try and make it up.

Now it's just a loss. Not a theoretical tax cut, or tax breaks for R&D "we lost money!", a direct loss because a company decided Miami was the place to be and it's worth asking 2500 employees to relocate.

Employee/Company Contributions: Citadel employees and the firm itself funneled over $1 billion to Illinois in state taxes over the 10 years leading up to 2022.

What's wild is watching a helicopter land in the middle of the practice soccer field on a random day, then Tillman Fertitta hops out with Slim Thug. They jump in a waiting convoy of probably armored SUVs and drive the whole 200 yards to the very shiny Athlete Development Center attached to the Fertitta Center (basketball arena).

The new rec center is very nice at least.
