Fox News has parted ways with longtime anchor Maria Bartiromo, one of President Donald Trump's closest allies at the network. Her ouster came as a shock to many, including the president, who wrote on Truth Social, "I can't believe Maria Bartiromo is no longer going to have her great show(s) on FoxNews/Business." The Fox News leadership team decided to remove Bartiromo in August, according to a person familiar with the matter, who spoke on condition of anonymity. Read more

Argentina's President, Javier Milei, has heightened tensions with the UK over the Falklands, warning he will impose economic sanctions on firms which exploit oil close to the British overseas territory. In a national address, Milei said the "winds of change" favoured Argentina's claim to the islands, emboldened by signs the US might reconsider its stance of neutrality on the issue.

When the history of the American Bar Association's downfall is written, one theme will recur: it didn't have to end this way. By the 1960s, nearly half of the lawyers in the United States were members of the ABA. Congress, Presidents, and the courts consulted the ABA closely as a trusted advisor on all legal matters. Yet, tragically, that trust was squandered when the ABA was captured by the left. Instead of serving as a trade group for lawyers, the ABA became just another left-wing advocacy group. As membership declined, the ABA could have arrested its progressive lurch, but instead accelerated in the wrong direction. The group took liberal positions on abortion, affirmative action, national security, and other controversial issues that had nothing to do with the legal profession ...

Federal prosecutors have charged a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer with lying to investigators about the events leading up to the shooting of a Venezuelan man during the Minneapolis immigration crackdown earlier this year, a person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press. The person was not authorized to publicly discuss the investigation and spoke on condition of anonymity. The person said Christian Castro, the officer who authorities say shot Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis in the leg in January, has been charged with making false statements to federal investigators.

Former Arkansas state Rep. Austin McCollum has been charged with three felonies after his wife accused him in a court filing of a pattern of violent abuse, including telling her to kill herself and offering to fetch a gun when she described suicidal thoughts. "There was blood everywhere and I couldn't see," the petition states. "He grabbed my hair and slammed my head to the ground multiple times." The attack stopped only when McCollum told her to clean up the blood, she wrote, and that was when she fled and called 911. Deputies who responded reported that McCollum appeared intoxicated and that he had blood on his arms and legs and injuries to his knuckles, according to the affidavit.

Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), a former member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, is calling on President Trump to fire Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth over what he called Hegseth's "inept management" of the military. Tillis stepped up his criticism of Hegseth's leadership after Army Secretary Dan Driscoll announced his resignation after repeatedly clashing with Hegseth over the ouster of senior officials, such as Gen. Randy George, the former Army chief of staff. "I have never witnessed more inept management of the brave men and women who serve our country. He is intimidated by competence and retreats to ginning up culture wars instead of soberly attending to the vital work of our national defense and the health and well-being of our fighting force," Tillis posted on social platform X.

The victim of a random and senseless act of violence in Times Square on Aug. 31 is being remembered as a "thoughtful daughter and sister, a loyal friend, a devoted partner and companion in every aspect of [her husband] Frank's life, and, most recently, an incredibly loving mother to Madison." Erin Piacenti, 32, was returning to work for the first time since giving birth to her 5-month-old daughter Madison on Aug. 31 when she was fatally stabbed by Pamela Cisneros, 49, as she headed home from her job at Bank of America (BoA). Now, a GoFundMe has been created to help raise funds for her 5-month-old daughter. Read more

Mike Trout was practically beaming. He dropped the phrase "fresh start" four times in an interview that barely lasted five minutes. The burden of the Angels' failures has been disproportionately his to bear. He has insisted that his path to Cooperstown would run through Anaheim and only Anaheim. He has played 16 seasons for an owner that blessed him with half a billion dollars, treated his family like royalty and stranded him in position to conclude a star-spangled career without ever winning a postseason game. On Tuesday, Trout learned that the Angels would have a new owner: Stan Kroenke. Trout got off the call, looked up Kroenke and has not stopped smiling since.

A mom of five was convicted last week of delinquency of a minor. Her offense: allowing her 5-year-old son to walk about a half-mile by himself in their gated community. Until very recently, Karyann Parkinson lived in leafy Williamsburg, Virginia. She and her husband, Dallin, moved there from Utah so Parkinson could attend William and Mary Law School. In June, when Parkinson was preparing for the bar"and also happened to be eight months pregnant with her fifth child"she and her then-youngest, Sam, went for a bike ride, as they often do. They stopped for her son's favorite activity: collecting goose feathers from the path near their community pond. When they got home, he asked if he could walk back and get some more. Read more
