Trump Escalates Rhetoric on Outlawing Political Criticism

Donald Trump is ramping up his rhetoric depicting his political rivals and critics as criminals, while dropping a long trail of suggestions that he favors outlawing political speech that he deems misleading or challenges his claims to power.

It's a pattern of messaging that has long been part of Trump's stump speeches but has escalated significantly in his 2024 candidacy. And when he does it, the response from righties here (assuming we even talk about it...) will be "but this is what you liberals wanted, isn't it? why are you upset that he's doing what you want?" even though that's a. not true and b. a typical dodge that will allow them to avoid condemning it as forcefully as they have the boogeyman version of it they talk about now.
