"The delay in the historic ruling, which still has not arrived several days after briefings were filed and completed, has led to speculation the Supreme Court will uphold the previous ruling from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit that rejected Trump's claims of absolute immunity.

The process is currently on hold as one of the judges is believed to be writing a dissent from the decision."

"Unkle Clarence, are you in there? You need to come out now No believes you are writing a dissent on the bathroom walls!"

Stall, delay, stall, stall. Delay some more.

The Supreme Court could make?

imo, at this point, this is just [hopeful?] conjecture.

When SCOTUS issues its opinion then, and only then, will we know its opinion.

Until then, it is speculation, at best.

So unsurprising how rwingers are fine with SC Justices who take money and gifts from people who support certain legal cases that go before their Courts.

And what do they call someone who demeans trans people every chance he gets?

Trancists?

Does anyone really think our Presidents are immune from their criminal actions?

Seriously?

This was nothing but a delay tactic. Every day counts at this point. And Trumpy knows it.

There is no way Trumpy will be declared immune from his crimes.

Supreme Court to decide Trump's immunity claim in election interference case
www.nbcnews.com

... The Supreme Court on Wednesday agreed to decide whether former President Donald Trump can claim presidential immunity over criminal election interference charges, adding a new hurdle to a trial taking place.

The court in a brief order said it would hear arguments and issue a ruling on the immunity claim. In the meantime, the case is on hold, meaning no trial can take place.

The order said the court would hear the case, which could take months to resolve, the week of April 22.

The legal question the court will decide is "whether and if so to what extent does a former president enjoy presidential immunity from criminal prosecution for conduct alleged to involve official acts during his tenure in office," the order said.

Even if Trump loses, the trial would not take place until well into election season. If Trump were to win in a ruling, the charges would be dismissed. ...

They could have just sent the case back to the Appeals Court, and be done with it, but no, the rwingers on the Court owe their jobs to Trump, and today they paid him off with a big delay.

Unkle Clarence needs to be removed, and the Chief Justice should be ashamed of himself.

Neither of which will ever happen.

"The former president had asked the high court to stop the clock on his trial proceedings while he could pursue an appeals process that could have extended well into next year, while federal prosecutors had asked the court to let an appeals court ruling denying Trump's immunity claims be the last word.

Justices on the court did not honor that request, but did grant prosecutors' request to treat Trump's request for a stay as a request for review of the case itself.

"The special counsel's request to treat the stay application as a petition for a writ of certiorari is granted, and that petition is granted limited to the following question: Whether and if so to what extent does a former president enjoy presidential immunity from criminal prosecution for conduct alleged to involve official acts during his tenure in office," an unsigned order stated.

If the court rules in Trump's favor and finds that everything he did related to Jan. 6 was an "official act" of a president and immune from prosecution, it would effectively end that case entirely."

.
more at the link about how the idea that finding that "everything he did related to Jan. 6 was an "official act" of a president and immune from prosecution"... is a bad joke.

Not really, it just upsets you that the Democrats had all of these lofty plans to force a full court press on Trump and finally "get him," and fortunately or unfortunately it's no longer going to plan. The only problem is that while you guys were focused on that you forgot that The Federalist Society spent decades to secure SCOTUS and return to originalism (as opposed to the Left's love of lawfare). Anyways, probably best to focus on turning out the vote for Biden instead of pipe-dreams like this.

Every indictment of Trumpy was made by a grand jury. A jury of his peers.

Are you claiming that the prosecutors stacked the juries with democrats?

Let's see you your proof or STFU about this being about the democrats. It's about the Law.

It upset us that Trumpy is continuing to avoid Justice and avoid being held accountable for his actions because he thinks he is above the law and Republicans are blatantly supporting this nonsense.

Oh and by the way ... he has been "got".

Over $400 million in fines and 91 criminal indictments (not to mention two impeachments). So he definitely has been "got". He will be in and out of the courts all the way to the election. And hopefully even well after.

I would hope they tried to the best of their ability.

I want prosecutors to WANT to win.

Re 36

Except that's not how it works apparently.

I am not a lawyer but it appears federal grand jurors are selected from the jury pool randomly.

"From the prospective jurors who report and are not excused or postponed, the Jury Clerk will use a computer program to randomly select 23 members and 10 alternates for each grand jury."

State grand juries are similar.

Yeah, Leo Leonard and the Dark Money efforts to corrupt democracy through bought and paid for politicians and Justices with rulings like Citizens United.

Which is sadly funny and bizarre, as actual big money folks wouldn't bother to pee on relative serfs like you if you were on fire... even if they needed to pee.

Ronnie, my thoughts on this have been consistent and have said just as much previously. If Trump isn't immune, Bush goes to trial for war crimes, Biden goes to trial for droning that innocent aid worker, Obama goes on trial for droning an American citizen.

This is precisely why Trump will be found to have immunity via SCOTUS. The issue here is that most of you miss the forest through the trees and fail to fathom the ramifications outside of the deranged view of "Get Trump."

@#44 ... my thoughts on this have been consistent ...

Two questions...

1) your current alias is capable of thinking? I've not yet seen that phenomenon.

But more important ...

2) is your current alias the correct judge of an alleged consistency in its thoughts? That's like asking fmr Pres Trump to determine whether or not he is a narcissist.

1) Are you currently able to formulate questions that make it appear as though you've hopefully been laid once in your life?

2) why do you use this same set up of questioning with everyone who doesn't agree with your thoughts? Because it comes across as though you're a soulless computer program.

Truth, there's no point in answering it. We already live in a two tiered system of Justice. Unlike Biden, if you stole classified documents you'd be in Federal Prison.

If Trump isn't immune, Bush goes to trial for war crimes, Biden goes to trial for droning that innocent aid worker, Obama goes on trial for droning an American citizen.

You're missing the most critical distinction in this entire mess.

Presidents are, and should be, immune for acts taken in their official capacity as president. Starting a war and authorizing drone strikes can, unfortunately, be characterized as official acts. Stealing an election cannot.

Hope this helps (it wont).

Two tiered system of rights is broader than a 2 tiered system of justice.
