The United States will begin air dropping food aid to the people of Gaza, President Joe Biden announced Friday, as the humanitarian crisis deepens and Israel continues to resist opening additional land crossings to allow more assistance into the war-torn strip.

Speaking in the Oval Office, Biden said the US would be "pulling out every stop" to get additional aid into Gaza, which has been under heavy bombardment by Israel since the October 7 Hamas terror attacks.

"Aid flowing to Gaza is nowhere nearly enough," the US president said, noting that "hundreds of trucks" should be entering the enclave.

Biden said the US is "going to insist that Israel facilitate more trucks and more routes to get more and more people the help they need, no excuses."

He also noted the efforts to broker a deal to free the hostages and secure an "immediate ceasefire" that would allow additional aid in."

.

He's been pushing Israel hard for a cease-fire; maybe this will help.

It's kinda like dealing with Republicans in Congress; they are all too petty and self-serving to get anything done.

No one sees the issue with America sending humanitarian airplanes into an ally's warzone?

#2 | Posted by truthhurts at 2024-03-01 07:57 PM | Reply

The issue I see is Israel should be doing it, but since they won't, we might as well lead by example.

The recent massacre of refugees shows the UN needs to occupy Gaza, not Israel.

Of course, even with note cards he twice said the humanitarian aid was being delivered to Ukraine. But he's sharp as a tack.

From my POV as someone who has worked with relief agencies distributing aid in war-torn countries full of hungry, desperate people, you cannot just airdrop food and supplies. You need to create ground-based security and distribution protocols or you will create further disorder and chaos. Does Biden even think these things through or are we simply counting down days of complete incompetence until Trump comes back and foments a second civil war?

At this point nothing can be done to save face, and quite frankly, the clock is winding down on the great American experiment.

"Does Biden even think these things through"
Sure, they probably had focus groups and everything. Pressure is on, gotta get SOMETHING out before Super Tuesday. I predict the Biden administration will "manage" the situation until October, at which point Biden will unveil a peace agreement, freeing the hostages and ending the carnage just in time for the election. Not too soon, because it will fall apart.

That's the rub.

Any "peace agreement" will be broken, likely by Hamas/Palestinians at the behest of Iran/Russia (again) in order to damage Biden. So it makes sense for Biden to time it to maximize political benefit from the agreement while minimizing the political fallout from it's inevitable failure.

Rationalize it all you want. It's ridiculous that even with note cards he got the region wrong. Twice. And this is anything but a one-off occurrence.

Obfuscate all you want... Biden occasionally misspeaking vs Trump's daily deluded evil rants is preferable any time.

How that didn't end his candidacy is the reason why we call robotson deplorable.

And he cries over it in the gulag.

I want you to admit that Donald Trump is mentally ill and in cognitive decline.

Otherwise, I want you to drop your cynical and hypocritical rants about Biden.

I'm pissing into the wind, aren't I?

Loser.

Do you mean like Nixon keeping Vietnam going or Bushturd2 keeping our longest war ever to keep control in general? Historical fact those two presidents kept us in war to achieve reelection. I guess a peace respite for any reason is a bad thing. Stop being stupid... When cl0wns like you go blathering on about what Biden should do or what Trampazee woulda, coulda done in your imaginary world I have to laugh.

I bring up the two wars the US had some control of... unlike what is happening in Israel and Ukraine. Israel, Palestine, Russia, and Ukraine are all sovereign nations we have no say in. We can only pick a side to offer support and hope for some kind of outcome we can live with.

BTW To complicate matters in your particular whine fest... Israel has had no US diplomats willing to take the station in Israel since Trumpanzee moved the embassy to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv. So much for the cl0wn fix. I'm guessing the pigs want to get the place set up for Jayzus whose fixin to show up on the doorstep any day now... it's a great tourist draw... and a feel-good situation for the righty tightys... who give more of a $#!t for some future event portended in the Bible than the present-tense suffering

"It's ridiculous that even with note cards he got the region wrong."

So then ridicule him.

It's not like the two are going to get mixed up when we send weapons.

Can you acknowledge that? That the mix-up isn't impactful?

"In the coming days, we are going to join with our friends in Jordan and others in providing airdrops of additional food and supplies into Ukraine and seek to continue to open up other avenues into Ukraine, including the possibility of a marine corridor to deliver large amounts of humanitarian assistance," Biden said.

Yup

Yup

". I guess a peace respite for any reason is a bad thing."
Nope, I didn't say that, did I?

"Stop being stupid"
About what? You mean the things you are imagining that I said?

"When cl0wns like you go blathering on about what Biden should do"
I didn't blather a word about what Biden SHOULD do. I blathered about what he most likely WILL do. Do you understand the difference?

"or what Trampazee woulda, coulda done".
I didn't blather about him either

"in your imaginary world I have to laugh."
I think you are the one in an imaginary world. Now rewind and argue about what I actually posted , instead of what you imagined I said

"We can only pick a side to offer support and hope for some kind of outcome we can liive with"
it's not a football game, we can't simplistically "pick a side".. if you see it as a binary choice, then I ask, are you on the side of kidnapping and murdering Israeli civilians with the goal of wiping Israel off the map? Or are you on the side of bombing Gaza to obliteration and starving the civilians the bombs miss to make them stop hating Jews?

Its weird to see the US government openly supporting Hamas like this.

Everyone knows that the only way to not support Hamas is to spray white phosphorus directly into the open mouths of babies and grandmas.

And unlike Trumpy (and his many worshippers) is doing it very honorably.

He is an example of an honorable human being and is a guide for all of us to follow in our twilight years. 83 years old and he still has the energy to guide the most powerful country in the world!

How many of us can say anything like that at 70?

Trump on the other hand is a great example of how a deranged mafia boss should act in his "golden years".

Maybe we can sell Israel aid to drop instead of bombs? We can also help Israel keep track of the borders so they don't steal more. Both groups stink, religion is poison.
