@#1 ... "There can be no room in our country for this sort of political violence," the judge said. ...

Even though fmr Pres Trump not only encourages this sort of political violence, but has offered to pardon those convicted for carrying out the political violence?

Normalization? It's far, far worse than that.

Trump's making them heroes. Trump turns his rallies into religious experiences where these low-life POS terrorists are cast as hostages and sacrifices for his cause. These low-life POS terrorists that have been given every right to trial, attorneys, appeals are all criminals.

More and more people like this judge needs to say this and be unambiguous and honest, without fear.

As Protests and Violence Spill Over, Trump Shrinks Back

You see these weren't the first riots in DC, the White House, or the Capital. But they are the first to be called an "insurrection" and used a political fodder to imprison those that don't agree with the totalitarian regime.

"Beatification" seems more apt.

Meet some of the violent Jan. 6 rioters Donald Trump keeps calling 'hostages'
www.nbcnews.com

... Trump has made his defense of those incarcerated in Capitol attack cases a central piece of his 2024 campaign. Many are accused of assaulting police. Some others fled.

The way former President Donald Trump tells it, the men and women who stormed the Capitol because they believed his lies about the 2020 presidential election are "hostages" and "unbelievable patriots" who are being mistreated by the justice system.

But an NBC News review of hundreds of cases against Jan. 6 defendants found that just 15 people charged in connection with the Capitol attack are currently being held pretrial at the order of federal judges. That number of pretrial detainees has decreased in recent months, as more and more Jan. 6 defendants have taken plea deals or been found guilty, and as federal judges have been hesitant to hold new arrestees in pre-trial custody more than three years after the attack.

Though Trump said on Jan. 7, 2021, that "those who broke the law" during the Capitol riot would "pay," he has made his defense of incarcerated Jan. 6 defendants a major plank of his 2024 campaign. Trump has called Jan. 6 detainees "hostages" and even opens rallies by playing a recording from the "J6 Prison Choir." Trump has said he'll pardon "a large portion" of the rioters "very early on" if he wins in 2024 and recently vowed to "free the Jan. 6 Hostages" as one of his "first acts as your next President." ...

" they are the first to be called an "insurrection""

Why are you pretending the only insurrectionists were the ones OUTSIDE the Capitol when Trump's speech of the ellipse began?

This seems to be a repeated pattern from the J6 apologists: ignore the other six corrupt routes Trump was taking.

We have a judge condemning the normalization of J6.

Not surprised it's come to that...even while he's sending a perp to prison.

There will continue to be a fight to designate/classify J6 in a way this judge wants.

It's an uphill battle.

I suggested on the day of J6 that it would get dismissed pretty quickly. In actuality, it's maintained a stronger presence that I would have thought. More people have gone to jail that I thought would go. I commend the stomach and tenacity of law enforcement and our criminal justice system to continue on with these prosecution in the face of Trump and his supporters and their vitriol.

Mike Johnson says Jan. 6 rioters just 'happened to be walking through the building'
www.rawstory.com

... Speaker of the House Mike Johnson says some of the people in the halls of Congress during the January 6, 2021 insurrection were "innocent" and just happened to be there, walking about the building.

Some are viewing his remarks as a further push by Republicans to whitewash the attack, which led to an impeachment of Donald Trump and later criminal charges for the ex-president. ...

It's hard for everyone to understand this when States allowed him on their ballot and the SCOTUS ruled 9-0 in a way that inferred they didn't want to take him of the ballot either.

Now....that's not a deflection or an apology for anything but it's hard for regular joes to accept all the "routes" Trump took when our system of justice has allowed him to run for president.

" it's hard for regular joes to accept all the "routes" Trump took"

Hell, I just want them to acknowledge it. So far, not a single J6 apologist has even mentioned the other half dozen corrupt routes Trump was taking surreptitiously.

Sure, if it was just the protesters, one might wonder if it was a full-fledged "insurrection". Once paired with the other half dozen corrupt routes however, the word "if" disappears.

Just like Dems normalizing looting, rioting, and killing during riots. Too bad liberals are so blind to their own hate they can't be objective enough to see it. If you don't like normalizing the bad things, stop doing it.

I do agree that those things, when they occur, are not good.

However, there is a false equivalency when you try to say those things are even similar to trying to overthrow the results of a valid election by violence.

So, maybe instead of propagating such a false equivalency, you might acknowledge the severity of using violence trying to overthrow our democratic Republic.

Seriously? Rigger please!

You and your pitiful whataboutisms.

The Dems did not attack the US Capitol, smear feces on the walls and build gallows for the VP and threaten to overthrow the government while the President was a busy little bee trying to undermine the elections and game (rig) the system 7 different ways for himself. That was your party and it will follow you forever.

Just like Trumpy just tried to do in Nebraska and failed.

Again.

They were the first to be part of an organized coup attempt by a presidential candidate. So you want to hide behind semantics and argue about the definition. Just like all the cult members who supported the coup.

Then you whine about being LUMPED in with them, despite parroting their propaganda every single day.

91 criminal charges ( and counting) .

All made by "Lumpers"?

All the grand juries and judges are "lumpers"? (whatever the frick that means)

What an ignorant maroon your alias has become.

Time to consider a name change.

This fool proves every day that he deserves all the insults and abuse handed out to him here whenever he posts his idiotic nonsense! But hey, he is good for a laugh every now and then!"Totalitarian regime"....just too funny! Never mind Trump talks openly about wanting to set up a "totalitarian regime" here in the United States.
