The Senate quickly dispensed with the two impeachment charges against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, convening a short-lived trial Wednesday that brought an end to a months-long effort to punish the secretary for his handling of the southern border.

This "impeachment" was too stupid to rise to level of farce.

... decrying it as a political stunt and saying the allegations constituted a policy disagreement that fell far short of the constitutional threshold for impeachment. ...

Exactly.

charged him in February with "willful and systemic refusal to comply with the law" and a "breach of public trust."

Anyone see an actual statutory violation there?

Empty G loses another one. She's remarkably consistent.

McTurtle was on tv crying about how the Senate rejecting this garbage "This process must not be abused," McConnell said. "It must not be short-circuited."

McTurtle has abused processes so bad they have an order of protection against him.

Turns out that not enforcing the opposition party's polices is not a crime.

Just more fraud waste and abuse of power by republicans.

BTW. How's that revenge and retribution of President Joe Biden coming along?

I was very disappointed in Romney when he said we owed it to the constitution to proceed with a debate or trial when in fact we owed it to the constitution to reject it outright.

Seems he really is just another despicable Republican.

Seems he really is just another despicable Republican.

He's a squish. He does believe in the Constitution, but he's still willing to give deference to GOP political orthodoxy if doing so doesn't clearly cross an inviolate line, especially when it's the Democrats on the other side.

Remember when there were no problems at the border under Trump? Neither do I.

In fact, according to Trump, it was worse. Millions of illegals! MS-13 gangs! Caravans!

This is one instance where I feel impeachment is truly warranted. This piece does a decent job laying it out.

That reads like a two year old who didn't get dessert... much more whining and crying than lawing.

"Everything Mayorkas did was authorized or ratified by the White House, but Republicans chose to impeach only the Senate-confirmed Mayorkas and not the elected president."

Why the hell would you only kill the guy following Hitler's orders? Just kill Hitler you dummies.

From jeff's article:

"Mayorkas's conduct has been egregious. He has ignored federal statutes requiring that illegal immigrants be detained until they are removed, given asylum, or otherwise legally adjudicated. He has twisted the definitions of legal status and incoherently extended protected status to 700,000 Venezuelan migrants. He has overseen the administration's insistence that Texas may neither exercise its own sovereignty at the border nor insist that the laws of the nation be enforced. He has handed out meaningless court dates, sometimes a decade in the future, as a substitute for enforcement today. It is ironic that the Senate took the same approach, first delaying action against Mayorkas and then dismissing all charges out of hand."

OFFS the ---- the author is condemning majorkas for takes MONEY, which the republican HoR refused to do at ----ler's whim.

not surprising this load of bs comes from the DR's primary purveyor of bs

You'll have to ask Empty G... it was her bill. That said, she does have five more impeachment resolutions on the go.
