Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Sunday, April 28, 2024

Since six Southern Republican governors last week showed "how scared they are" of the United Auto Workers' U.S. organizing drive, Tennessee Volkswagen employees have voted to join the UAW while GOP policymakers across the region have ramped up attacks on unions.

Can't have people or laborers demanding a 'living wage' now can we?
See which side the southern GOP is really on...

Although if you don't know by now, you are likely already a republican.

The odd part of this matter is that Der Dotard is seen by many blue collar workers as more of a friend to the unions than is Biden. Why did Dotard visit that construction site in Manhattan the other day? To show that he is a regular guy hanging with the steelworkers, concrete workers, electricians, pipe fitters and others. Many of those guys (yes, they are mostly guys) dig any politician who can bang a porn star and date a Playmate. Biden's message of union solidarity and better pay and conditions falls on dead ears to many in unions. They want the guy who gets porn stars ...

What will be curious to watch is how the voting in those states might change as the Governors stop supporting their constituents right to choose whether or not to join a union.

Why are those governors so afraid of people having free choice in this matter?

"Can't have people or laborers demanding a 'living wage' now can we?"

Yeah, and we can't expect people to take some effort to make their lives better and instead depend on the government to give them jobs they aren't qualified for with wages that cause prices to increase, now can we? It never ceases to amaze me how many people in America want their lives to be completely controlled by the government. I mean, to each their own but just wow, American privilege and entitlement has gotten to an unsustainable level.

There are pros and cons to unions, like everything else. Most aren't against having unions, most are against being mandated to join a union. And, if you haven't ever worked for a shop with a large union presence, you know beyond any doubt that you are mandated. If you don't join, you get harassed and your daily work life becomes unbearable.

Someone might argue otherwise but there is nothing economically about these workers unionizing if it results in making more money, more tax revenue, more spending, etc....sort of an all boats rise when the tide comes in metaphor.

The only downside for the Governor is these workers might not be so loyal to the republican party once they unionize.

#4 Hummer... I would have flagged your post as 'Redneck Derp' if I was able to.
Sadly, no such option.

What I love is how many of you Red State GQP were totally hornswoggled
into buying that B.S. 'right to work' crap that your party was shoveling
a year or 3 back. I rank it right up there with 'Trickle Down Economics'.
But then again, your type has proven over and over and over again that they
are 'oh so easy to fool'.

enjoy.

Now, now. Alabama has been RTW since 1954, and look at the economic powerhouse it's become!

Moved from 50th to 49th!

So.....

Florida puts end to newcomers working, Lumpers get upset.
Unions putting an end of newcomers working, Lumpers rejoice.

The cognitive dissonance is incredible.

One way or another, southern conservatives (actually most conservatives) will fight to keep slavery alive.

What'sLeft: respectfully, I disagree. I believe we have indeed reached that incredibly low threshold nation-wide that if each State in the nation were to vote on the legality of slavery, all 50 would vote against it. Now if that is not damning with faint praise' I do not know what is. Some States probably would vote that blacks and Latinos may be paid less than whites, or are not entitled to the same level of education as whites. But I think a "no" to slavery would squeak through all 50.

" Unions putting an end of newcomers working"

Tell me you don't understand how Unions work, without using those specific words.

What's with the "newcomers" nonsense? Isn't "lumpers" stupid enough?
