President Joe Biden on Friday addressed his poor performance in Thursday's presidential debate, just hours after he faltered on stage in his matchup against former President Donald Trump.

"Folks, I don't walk as easy as I used to. I don't speak as smoothly as I used to. I don't debate as well as I used to, but ... I know how to tell the truth.

I know right from wrong, and I know how to do this job," he told the roaring crowd.

"I know, like millions of Americans know, when you get knocked down, you get back up."

The crowd constantly shouted "Four more years," during the event which also included remarks from first lady Jill Biden

Biden spent much of the rally pointing out what he called Trump's false claims during the debate about the economy, immigration and crime.

"I spent 90 minutes on stage debating a guy with the morals of an alley cat," Biden said repeating a zinger from the debate.

"I think he set a new record for the number of lies told at a debate."

.

Well, there's no debate about Trump's Record Lying.

Here's Joe today at the Rally:

... During the rally in Raleigh, North Carolina, a more energetic-appearing Biden acknowledged that he's not a young man, but contended that his morals and history prove that he's still fit for the job. ...

That's where Pres Biden has it all over fmr Pres Trump --- morals and history.

It took a while for Pres Biden to return the respect and dignity to the Oval Office after fmr Pres Trump left.

It is looking like Pres Biden needs to address more than just his poor debate performance....

The RCP round-up of recent polls shows fmr Pres Trump increasing his lead from 0.5% to 1.9%.

Former President Barack Obama offered public support for President Joe Biden after a rough debate performance Thursday that spurred some Democrats to question whether the incumbent has what it takes to defeat Donald Trump.

"Bad debate nights happen. Trust me, I know," Obama said in a post on X, a reference to his own first debate with 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney, which was widely viewed as a victory for the Republican.

.
"But this election is still a choice between someone who has fought for ordinary folks his entire life and someone who only cares about himself. Between someone who tells the truth; who knows right from wrong and will give it to the American people straight " and someone who lies through his teeth for his own benefit," Obama said.

"Last night didn't change that, and it's why so much is at stake in November."

www.politico.com

Of course, were Obama able to run this wouldn't be a close race at all.

The campaign continues...

Obama to the rescue as Biden's strategy to calm nervous Democrats begins
www.axios.com

... President Biden tried quell concerns about his shaky debate performance in Atlanta last night with a fiery appearance North Carolina rally this afternoon " and a plea for sympathy from former President Obama.

Why it matters: It's part of an emerging survival strategy by Biden's team to show his supporters " including senior Democrats who came away from the debate doubting Biden's viability as a candidate " that the president has the stamina and strength to defeat former President Trump.

- - - Biden and Obama also are asking voters for a little grace after a debate night that they admit wasn't great.

- - - "Bad debate nights happen. Trust me, I know," Obama said, referencing his own subpar 2012 debate performance against Republican Mitt Romney.

- - - "But this election is still a choice between someone who has fought for ordinary folks his entire life and someone who only cares about himself," Obama posted on X.

In his remarks at the rally in Raleigh, N.C., an enthusiastic Biden " using a Teleprompter before a cheering crowd " also acknowledged that his debate skills have atrophied with age.

- - - "I don't speak as smoothly as I used to," he said. "I don't debate as well as I used to."

- - - But I know what I do know," he added. "I know how to tell the truth. I know right from wrong."
...

Will the campaigning work?

imo, there is a rather significant hill that must be climbed.

I'm pulling for Biden Now.

I will vote for him in November.

Trump will Assist Israel when they "Finish It".

Biden is at least Squeamish about it.

Biden is clearly the "Lesser Evil".

That's enough for me.

I hope enough Americans Agree.

Biden 2024.

Yeah, after Pres Putin said as much.

Putin says Biden is better for Russia than a Trump presidency (February 2024)
www.nbcnews.com

... President Joe Biden has been handed an endorsement from an unexpected and perhaps unwelcome source: the Kremlin.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday that his country would prefer to see the "more experienced" Biden in the White House for a second term than the Republican front-runner, former President Donald Trump.

The comments, which may be taken more as mischievous meddling than serious statecraft, were the Russian leader's most direct in public on the upcoming U.S. presidential election. They were welcomed by Trump but dismissed by the White House, which urged Putin to "stay out" of the election. ...

So... still, apparently, still echoing the talking points issued?

Five Man Electrical Band - Signs (1971)
www.youtube.com

Lyrics excerpt...

genius.com

...
And the sign said "Long-haired freaky people
Need not apply"
So I tucked my hair up under my hat
And I went in to ask him why
He said "You look like a fine upstanding young man
I think you'll do"
So I took off my hat, I said "Imagine that
Huh! Me workin' for you!"
Whoa-oh-oh

[Chorus]
Sign, sign, everywhere a sign
Blockin' out the scenery
Breakin' my mind
Do this, don't do that
Can't you read the sign?

[Verse 2]
And the sign said anybody caught trespassing
Would be shot on sight
So I jumped on the fence and I yelled at the house
"Hey! What gives you the right?
To put up a fence to keep me out
Or to keep Mother Nature in
If God was here he'd tell you to your face
Man, you're some kinda sinner"

[Chorus]
Sign, sign, everywhere a sign
Blockin' out the scenery
Breakin' my mind
Do this, don't do that
Can't you read the sign?

{In album version only}

[Bridge]
Now, hey you, mister, can't you read?
You've got to have a shirt and tie to get a seat
You can't even watch, no, you can't eat
You ain't supposed to be here
The sign said you got to have a membership card to get inside
Ugh!

[Verse 3]
And the sign said, "Everybody welcome. Come in, kneel down and pray"
But when they passed around the plate at the end of it all, I didn't have a penny to pay
So I got me a pen and a paper and I made up my own little sign
I said, "Thank you, Lord, for thinkin' 'bout me. I'm alive and doin' fine."
Wooo!
...

As I look back to my years in college when the phrases like ~you're a long haired hippie freak~ (because I was protesting against the Vietnam War) were tossed at me. Well, this obscure song from back in the day hits a bell.

Though this song was ten years or so later, I'd proffer that it still evokes an appropriate scenario for "back then."

In other words, was the Country in a good place at that time?

Bruce Cockbrn - If I Had A Rocket Launcher (1984)
www.youtube.com

Lyrics excerpt...

genius.com

...
[Verse 1]
Here comes the helicopter
Second time today
Everybody scatters
And hopes it goes away
How many kids they've murdered
Only God can say, hey

[Chorus]
If I had a rocket launcher
If I had a rocket launcher
If I had a rocket launcher
I'd make somebody pay

[Verse 2]
I don't believe in guarded borders
And I don't believe in hate
I don't believe in generals
Or their stinking torture states
And when I talk with the survivors
Of things too sickening to relate

[Chorus]
If I had a rocket launcher
If I had a rocket launcher
If I had a rocket launcher
I would retaliate

In Europe and America
There's a growing feeling of hysteria
Conditioned to respond to all the threats
In the rhetorical speeches of the Soviets
Mr. Khrushchev said, "We will bury you"
I don't subscribe to this point of view
It would be such an ignorant thing to do
If the Russians love their children too

How can I save my little boy
From Oppenheimer's deadly toy?
There is no monopoly of common sense
On either side of the political fence

We share the same biology
Regardless of ideology
Believe me when I say to you
I hope the Russians love their children too

There is no historical precedent
To put the words in the mouth of the president
There's no such thing as a winnable war
It's a lie we don't believe anymore
Mr. Reagan says, "We will protect you"
I don't subscribe to this point of view
Believe me when I say to you
I hope the Russians love their children too

We share the same biology
Regardless of ideology
What might save us, me and you
Is if the Russians love their children too

"I was at the Trump-Biden presidential debate and it became very clear what had gone wrong

Earlier in the week, I spoke to multiple Biden campaign strategists and former Democratic operatives about how the president was preparing for the debate at Camp David.

All of them described a punishing and rigorous process during which Biden would practise hitting back at various criticisms and insults expected from Trump on the night.

Their strategy had one major flaw: it relied on memory " not the president's strong point, at 81 years of age " and on the delivery of facts.

Facts are all very well and good during a political campaign and, of course, are paramount for policy. But debates are about who you are." excerpts

Politicians claming morality is weak. We don't want morality, just look at the things which command our respect- wealth and sex and violence. We want results, as in our lives getting better. This Biden doesn't deliver. HIS life gets measurably better, though. Huh.

Why is everyone ignoring Biden's lies? What about his lie that no soldiers died during his Presidency? What about inheriting a 9 % inflation from his predecessor when he took office? Blatantly false. What about Biden's lie that the Border Patrol overwhelmingly endorsed him? That was beyond ludicrous. Biden claimed he brought down the cost of insulin shots to $15! False! Just to name a few. So Biden was stumbling and bumbling as well as lying. This all from your president. We simply cannot endure another 4 years of this walking dumpster fire!

Reality:
From the wars Biden inherited:

The number of hostile action deaths under Biden from all the wars the US is engaged, including our withdrawal from Afghanistan is 26.
The number of hostile action deaths under Trump from all the wars the US is engaged, including our withdrawal from Afghanistan is 66. That's 2.54 times more.

The number of wounded under Biden from all the wars the US is engaged, including our withdrawal from Afghanistan is 616.
The number of wounded under Trump from all the wars the US is engaged, including our withdrawal from Afghanistan is 92. That's 6.7 times more.

Biden's done a great job as president. Aides stuffed his head with too many numbers. His memory may not be what it was as a 50-year-old, but people who've been around him - corporate CEOs to foreign leaders - say he's sharp in meetings. We'll see what happens next.

Correction to #26 - I misattributed wounded numbers under Trump to Biden, and vice versus. The actual post should be:

The number of wounded under Biden from all the wars the US is engaged, including our withdrawal from Afghanistan is 92.
The number of wounded under Trump from all the wars the US is engaged, including our withdrawal from Afghanistan is 616. That's 6.7 times more soldier's wounded under Trump than Biden.

------- will send the military into American cities

Well, the Trumpers who were his Aides that testified to his crimes under Oath probably won't be voting for him, as they proved they weren't traitors to their country by doing so.

And the Trumpers in the DOJ that threatened to resign in masse if he tried to illegally manipulate the Electoral Ballots from the States won't be voting for him, either, for the same reason.

They aren't traitors, they are patriots.

Biden Addresses Poor Debate Performance

Joe still has my vote, since the only other person who stands a chance of winning office shouldn't be walking the streets a free man, let alone be president. But I don't think there's any coming back from this for Biden.

Clips of his debate senior moments will playing non-stop in swing states from now until election day. Making what was a tough election almost unwinnable for him. Granted, I've been wrong plenty of times before, like when I concluded that Hair Furor had no chance in 2016, so what do I know?

#32 | Posted by censored at 2024-06-29 07:03 PM | Reply

Beyond Joe losing, another concern I have is that he will be a drag on the Dems. They were supposed to re-take the House, but with Joe heading up the charge, I'm afraid that many Dem voters will find something less depressing to do with their time than voting for a befuddled, mumbling old man.

For what it's worth:

Although many Democratic voters say they would prefer President Joe Biden step aside as the party's nominee after Thursday's weak debate performance, a new Morning Consult poll reveals that Biden's support actually improved after the debate.

Biden gained a point in the latest survey.

When the survey asked respondents to choose between Biden and former President Trump, 45% chose the President and 44% chose Trump.
