President Joe Biden's decision to drop his re-election bid and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris means Democrats have to choose a running mate for Harris, assuming she wins the Democratic nomination for president. Here are six of the most likely candidates at least according to political analysts plus one wild card.

Some interesting choices offered in the article. Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly being an astronaut and a battleground state would be cool.

Mark Cuban would not be good LOL.

According to CNN's Jamie Gangel, these are the names Kamala Harris is considering to pick as her running mate:

-Arizona Senator Mark Kelly
-Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear
-NC Governor Roy Cooper

Roy Cooper is pretty popular here in NC, he's done a great job. He'd probably help her lock the state up.

This thread is interesting.

It seems to presume that VP Harris is now the anointed Presidential candidate.

But the question it raises is, who might be her running mate.

The thread seems to assume a calm transference of ~Presidential candidate~ from Pres Biden to VP Harris.

I remain to be convinced, given the prior chaotic behavior of Democrats, that such a smooth transition will occur.

Have Democrats actually gotten their act together, and have untied against what they face?

(asking for friend....)

Individual state convention delegations have already started a straw poll of their delegates and the prediction is she will be the clear candidate by Wednesday or Thursday at the latest. I read that Tennessee already announced she won theirs.

Andy Beshear & Mark Kelly would be on my short list.

- Beshear is term limited as Gov of KY, telegenic, and youthful.

- Mark Kelly, former Navy pilot, astronaut, and U.S. Senator would be great too, IMO. Imagine him on the campaign trail: "Cadet Bone Spurs, as some call Donald Trump, has no notion of what sacrifice for country is."

Mark Kelly, former Navy pilot, astronaut, and U.S. Senator

Curious how they would attack him. Has a Jewish wife?

Excellent picks. Beshear has a good governance record and is pious; Kelly flew combat missions in the Gulf War before becoming an astronaut.

Cooper or Kelly seem the obvious choices.
If Harris could win either NC or AZ, that
would start to make the math more difficult
for tRUMP in the E.C.

As usual. The Rust Belt will be pivotal...

And if she could steal GA away from the Trump
camp, that would be tremendous.

A short primer on NC Gov. Roy Cooper, who could be a Democratic VP contender

Gov. Andy Beshear endorses Harris and attacks JD Vance on Morning Joe: "Vance calls pregnancy arising from rape 'inconvenient.' No, it's just plain wrong. He suggests that women should stay in abusive relationships. Listen, a domestic abuser isn't a man, he's a monster."

Beshear on Vance: "I want the American people to know what a Kentuckian is and what they look like, because let me just tell you that JD Vance ain't from here. The nerve that he has to call the people of eastern Kentucky lazy ... nobody calls us names."

Beshear: "Partisanship is now everywhere. From the car you drive to the beer you drink, you're supposed to pick a side. And we just can't continue that. And that's why I think the VP can give a compelling message about being better ... we can create a contrast."

Mark Kelly.

Whoa, Senator Kelly is married to Gabrielle Giffords.

Small world in the AZ politician-class of folks.

It will be either Shapiro or Kelly.

He was married to Giffords when he was still an astronaut, when she was still in Congress, and before she was shot. As such a low information voter, you probably just STFU.

Why is Whitmer still on this list? She's made it patently clear she doesn't want the job.

Nice to see they finally gave up on pushing Michelle.

Republicans are very upset we aren't still talking about the assisnation attempt, video at link:

Hasselbeck: The mainstream media don't want us talking about that. That's why the timing of the announcement, and the proceedings going forward with Joe Biden, that's why this announcement came right now. They don't want us talking about what happened

Shapiro would be the kiss of death to the ticket due to his ongoing support for the Palestinian genocide.

Stupid Democrats never learn.

NERFHERDER: Concur, that would be tantamount to Fredo in Havana or the Nazarene and Judas Iscariot.

Gov. Andy Beshear promised to provide free health care to all African-American residents of Kentucky and he restored the voting rights of 180,315 Kentuckians. Like Kamala Harris, he too was a state attorney-general. Governor Beshear is also telegenic and a white male from the South who happens to be a deacon in his church.
