Donald J. Trump and his allies are full of bravado over his chances of victory in the closing days of the 2024 campaign. But there are signs, publicly and privately, that the former president and his team are worried that their opponents' descriptions of him as a racist and a fascist may be breaking through to segments of voters.

The backlash among Puerto Rican celebrities and performers was instantaneous across social media, prompting the Trump campaign to issue a rare defensive statement distancing themselves from offensive comments. In a tight race, any constituency could be decisive and the sizable Puerto Rican community in the battleground state of Pennsylvania was on the minds of Trump allies.

Danielle Alvarez, a senior adviser to the Trump campaign, said in a statement that the Puerto Rico joke "does not reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign."

The Trump ethos has generally been to never apologize, never admit error and try to ignore controversy. Ms. Alvarez's statement was a rare break from that practice, reflecting a new concern that Mr. Trump risks reminding undecided voters of the dark tenor of his political movement in the closing stage of the 2024 race.

Anyone who didn't know before this that Trump is a racist didn't want to know.

Puerto Rican Archbishop Calls On Trump For Direct Apology: Humor Has Its Limits'

"I enjoy a good joke," the archbishop, Roberto O. Gonzlez Nieves, wrote in a letter posted to Facebook. "However, humor has its limits. It should not insult or denigrate the dignity and sacredness of people. Hinchcliffe's remarks do not only provoke sinister laughter but hatred."

"It is not sufficient for your campaign to apologize," the archbishop added. "It is important that you, personally, apologize for these comments."

Waiting for Trump to apologize is usually a fruitless endeavor. It'll be interesting to see if he responds to the Archbishop's request with anything other than one of his short stubby middle fingers.

The campaign had the text of the speech before the rally. They took an even more offensive part out. They knew what he was going to say. This is all on them.

The 'comedy' show at MSG will hurt Der Dotard less than many think. Trump says what many think in this great land of ours. His voters want to be like him--wife cheater, spending other people's money, living in luxury and having women with fake knockers fawning over him, lining up to give his mushroom a tug...

Puerto Rico's Republican Party chairman has threatened to withhold his support for Donald Trump unless he issues an apology for an offensive remark that a comedian made about Puerto Rico at the former president's Madison Square Garden rally on Sunday.

Sadly it is not about fixing and instead always about more divisive destructive Democrat spin.

The problem with garbage in Puerto Rico is that it is absolutely a real problem. But the crux of the problem is their incompetent leadership not the PR people. Who governs PR huh? We have too many leaders who thrive on making and enraging victims instead of fixing problems. The latter is a specialty of Democrats like Kamala. She will never fix anything unless it creates temporary political advantage for her worthless hack cronies.

Yes PR has real problems. www.ecorichenv.com

Are there enough racists in America to elect Trump.

We'll find out in about a week.

What I'm calling the Jokestown Massacre, where Trump & MAGA committed mass political suicide, has created a fury the likes of which no Republican politicians have seen to date.

Hispanic media is still reporting on the fury felt by so many Latinos, Puerto Ricans in particular.

Today's Telemundo reports Trump didn't apologize and millions and claimed the MSG rally was a "love fest." Millions are rightfully as PO'd and disgusted as they can be. Phone lines are jammed with calls between Puerto Rican residents and their friends and relatives in the U.S., urging them to not vote for Trump.

Trump keeps pouring gas on the fire ...

Translated:

Trump considers his rally in New York rally and avoids condemning racist jokes against Latinos and Puerto Rico

Former President Donald Trump said Tuesday during a speech at his residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, that his Sunday rally in New York where a comedian issued racist jokes about Latinos and about Puerto Rico was a love festival.

"I don't think anyone has ever seen anything like what happened the other night in Madison Square Garden," Trump said at the end of a speech in front of his supporters. "Love, love, love in the living room, was awesome."
