Will Trump's base be happy with just immigrants with criminal pasts and/or who have committed crimes in this country being deported? Will they be happy with immigrants who have been here 5 years or more, who have jobs and children who are American citizens, staying here?

It's a given that Fat Smelvis will tank the economy is spectacular fashion.

I'm wondering why Lewzer would even bother. He doesn't need votes anymore. His only priority now is to stuff as much money into his own pockets as possible.

Oh absolutely.

Okay, but there aren't 20 million dangerous criminals in this country illegally and that's the figure Trump used:
"I am sure that the Trump administration is not going to be targeting those people who have been here for more than five years that have American kids, that don't have criminal records, that have been working in the economy and paying taxes," Florida Republican Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar said in a PBS interview. Her Miami-Dade district is home to about 200,000 undocumented people. "I am sure that they're going to hone in on the criminals who arrived less than four years ago," she added. Asked in the interview whether she got those assurances from Trump or someone in his potential administration, Salazar didn't directly answer, but said she is "going to be one of those voices making sure within the GOP to make that distinction." And Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., said in an NBC News interview Wednesday that Trump has "made clear that his priority is to deport dangerous criminals. People that are in this country and are criminals in their home country, or are committing crimes here, they will be the priority for removal from this country."

Trump's supporters often think anyone brown must be illegal, much less an immigrant.
Except his brown supporters, that is. Lots of folks missed them entirely.
Seems to be that MAGA is no longer the whole problem, if it ever was.

Could it be these folks were right not to listen to Trump's rhetoric?:
A Latino family who voted for Trump speaks out. Not going to lie"this is tough to watch.
SPOILER ALERT: It was about the economy. Trump's threats of mass deportation didn't matter to them, as they believe it won't affect their undocumented relatives, because they aren't criminals.

And, again, will Trump's MAGA base be satisfied?

Houston, we have a problem:
"The American people spoke loud and clear ... the goal should be to deport every illegal in this country we can find" -- Senator-elect Jim Banks indicates on CNN he supports going as far as to deport the undocumented parents of children who are American citizens

They're going to deport their kids right along with them.

Robert Reich @RBReich A lot of people wrongly think being married to an American automatically grants citizenship. Unfortunately, it doesn't. This ruling, from a Trump-appointed judge, will rip families apart.
Judge strikes down Biden plan to help undocumented spouses of US citizens Immigration advocates say ruling could separate families for years, while Mexico vows to continue measures to stop migrants from reaching US border A federal judge has struck down a Biden administration policy that aimed to ease a path to citizenship for some undocumented immigrants who are married to US citizens. The program, lauded as one of the biggest presidential actions to help immigrant families in years, allowed undocumented spouses and stepchildren of US citizens to apply for a green card, the right to permanent legal residency, without first having to leave the country. About half a million foreign-born spouses of US citizens were estimated to have been eligible for the Biden administration's initiative that was announced in June under the banner "Keeping Families Together". Applications opened on 19 August.

If anybody did apply, the Trump administration will have a handy list of who to track down.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't see Trumpers like Robson saying, "Yeah, okay, let them stay.":
Why is this even a point of contention or discussion? 80% of Americans want the border secure and they want illegals deported now. Trump won by a landslide using the vote of every demographic citizen in America. Trump will do his job and make hiring illegals a crime and end all handouts. He will also crush the drug cartels and NGOs that were fed billions of our tax money by Democrats. It won't be difficult to take our country back from illegals and sanctuary cities. This country belongs to every citizen not foreigners. Posted by Robson at 2024-11-09 07:59

Wishful thinking. That's not what Trump sold and is not what Trump voters bought.

Threats of "mass deportation" were just ugly, hateful, rhetoric for the benefit of his ugly, hateful supporters.
The actual amount of mass deportation will be on par with the amount of wall that got built.

@#15 ... The actual amount of mass deportation will be on par with the amount of wall that got built. ...
While my view is that it is too soon to tell how successful Pres-elect Trump will be in his promise of deporting 20 million immigrants...
I will say... if you want to make equivalencies, I would not stop at the amount of wall that was built, but go on to the amount of wall that Mexico has paid for.

@#18 ... We'd never separate the families ...
Who is the "we" your current alias' comment refers to?
The reason I ask is that a denial that "we" did not do something does not necessarily mean that the thing was not done.
So, I ask again ...

It's the people in charge. You know, the ones that will begin deporting illegal immigrants.

@#23 ... You know, ...
No, I do not know.
Which is why I asked the question, which I do note your current alias has avoided answering.
So, please allow me to ask once again...
Specifically, who are the "we" your current alias refers to in #18, "We'd never separate the families"?
