Though Donald Trump claims an "unprecedented and powerful mandate" upon taking office, an Associated Press-NORC Center poll finds that he lacks public support for many of his highest priorities. A majority in the poll oppose pardoning the 1,500 Jan. 6 insurrectionists convicted of crimes, oppose imposing tariffs on foreign goods and oppose withdrawing from the Paris climate agreement.

Ahh, back to polling. Did they bother to ask "Latinx" people this time?

Polls are for people who think their opinion matters. After noon eastern time today it no longer does, unless those people are billionaires ...

What'd we designate Vietnam?

As if polls or the will of the people matter anymore.

He never had a mandate to begin with. No polling is necessary to reach that conclusion.

Sorry to burst your bubble but he won the electoral, the popular, was responsible for majorities in the house and senate and has a majority in the SC. The people voted for that. So you can stamp your feet and hold your nose and have more hissy fits but it's a mandate.

Trump won by only 1.6% over Kamala. That's NOT a mandate. Please do try again.

The highest percentage went to "didn't vote at all", at 36%.

Fishpaw isn't very bright

Oh and he only received 22% of the US Population. That's NOT a mandate either.

No one voted for the cabal that ran the country for last four years in Joe's mental absence.

No mandate no honeymoon no cooperation with traitors.

Good luck ruling with hate and fear.

The people voted for that.

It wasn't "the people" you idiot.

Trump voters account for 22% of the populace. He didn't get the majority of votes. His margin of victory was only 1.6%. His electoral win is minuscule compared to any election prior to 2016 with the exception of GWB's wins.

No. Any way you look at it, the election shows nothing more than an extremely divided nation.

I'll use that logic the next time a Democrat becomes president.

If it's by the same margins Trump won by, go for it.

You won't have to say it to me, though, since I won't be claiming a mandate.

What does mandate mean?

How does this give the President special legal powers?

What are those powers?

Are people just upset that he's using the term?

Such a strange argument.

What does mandate mean?

It's when two men go out to dinner together.

He has the WH, Congress, the senate and the SC yet Libs want to tell us they have the power. You f-in lost, but you keep believing you didn't. Lol

He has 2 or 3 seat advantage in a totally dysfunctional Republican House, and Jeffries just barely containing his grin at terrorizing them on the House floor.

I've never accepted the concept of a mandate.

campaigning well or campaigning poorly and simply said....a campaign strategy is what leads to the election results.

It's not about how to govern. It's not about how a specific campaign issue is to be pushed more than another....or at all.

The same obstruction and political challenges exist following a close presidential election as does a not so close presidential election.

It's not an excuse to push something and expect congress to step aside because of a "mandate".
