... Including the period before the ceasefire, he's done it at least 38 times. That's the number of times he's said directly " in social media posts, public appearances and phone calls with the media " that a deal was nigh or claimed Iran was desperate to cut one. There's no indication that's any more true today than it was back on April 7. ...

"You're really gonna win this over the next two weeks when we declare total victory. It'll be a total victory, it will happen very soon, and oil prices will come tumbling down" - Donald Trump June 8

Of course Trump also declared the US had achieved "Total and complete victory. 100 percent. No question about it" on April 7.

That was only after he said "Let me tell you, we've won. You know, you never like to say too early you won. We won. We won the -- in the first hour, it was over" on March 11.

Imagine if Roosevelt would have declared "Total and complete victory. 100 percent" after the Battle of Midway. What if after Guadalcanal he declared "We Won". What would such false proclamations of victory done to the rest of the war effort? How disheartened would our military have been if they heard the President make such statements only then to receive orders to prepare for the D-Day invasion?
