After having previously called the Senate's effort to pass a foreign aid package that included reforms to US border security "dead on arrival" in the House if passed by the Senate, Johnson is now attacking the Senate bill for not including border security in the bill.

... Senate, Johnson is now attacking the Senate bill for not including border security in the bill. Johnson is quoted calling the bill "silent on the most pressing issue facing our country. ...

Can Spkr Johnson make himself look anymore like an incandescent analpore?

The Senate bill that included immigration gave Republicans nearly all they wanted on immigration while giving Democrats very little. Why didn't he bring that bill to the floor?

I know: Republicans like border security as an issue more than they like border security as a solution. (looking at the GOP's viscous attack ads for Santos' House seat election in NYC today shows that to be true.)

#3 - Exactly.
They attacked Dems on the issue. Dems gave in to most of their demands and took away the attack. They killed the bill and shifted gears and tried to claim it is not needed because Biden can do it via executive order. Biden then took away that attack and announced that since congressional GOP, some of whom have been calling for reform for decades, now refuse to act that Biden will take action on his own. Now the House is back to their original attack calling this the most serious issue in the country and crying that the same legislation that they just shot down is badly needed.

The House GOP is useless. They have accomplished nothing and try to blame their failure on everyone else, even on the Senate GOP.

"He went on to suggest that he will not bring the bill, which was passed by the Senate this morning, to a vote."

Because that's what Jesus told him to do. Obviously.

Jesus. He gets you. Even if you let your friends and Allies down in the midst of their worst crisis.

Do most Republicans even comprehend what an idiot MJ sounds like when he speaks out of both sides of his mouth like that? LOL. Just last week you declared any negotiation on the Mexican-American border that comes out of the Senate as DOA. What a clown. At least give it a month or so before pretending you might support the bill if it had negotiated issues involving our Southern border. How stupid are most GOPhers?

@#5 ... That should be trademarked, ...

I use that phrase because flaming ------- is usually ~dashed out~ on this most august site.

For the record, the phrase is not mine. I saw it on a USENET mailing list many moons ago.

My guess... no.

But I welcome a discussion from the Republicans on this site.

I think they do. Notice how none of the ones who were just a few days ago defending MJ's previous position are commenting here. They realize their previous comments are still easy to find and they will look like the idiots they are if they try to defend Johnson now so they just keep quite and hope dems can't come up with a creative election ad this fall to remind people of the GOP lies.

The Republicans got everything they were demanding on border security. Trump shot it down because he wanted to use it as a campaign issue. For one, it tells you Trump doesn't have a lot of campaign issues that are worthy of political themes.

Another is it displays exactly what the border issue really means for the Republicans. They have to have something that resonates with the voters. Row vs Wade shot a big hole in their support. I recently saw a tv ad for one of the GOP candidates claiming the border issue was major. How is it major when your party is turning down the very things they demanded? Every time I hear about the border now from a GOP candidate, I find myself going back to the fact they turned down the very thing they claimed they wanted. It's hollow hypocrisy I hear loud and clear.

MAGA Mike was just flapping his jaws saying that their going to come up with their own border security bill in the House. Of course if they ever thought this was an actual problem they would have done that years ago. Like when they had full control under Trump.

Funny thing about MAGA Mike's concession and what he said about he Senate bill - he ends up flat out confirming that the current laws and funding aren't even close to being able to solve the problem. At the same time this utter morons vote to impeach Mayorkas for not "doing his job." That's wrong on so many points, not to mention massively hypocritical.

Republicans are scum.

Trump hired illegal immigrants at a white variety of his properties, from golf courses to hotels to office buildings.

For decades ...

"Using them brought a double advantage: Trump could reap the financial benefit of undocumented labor " the ability to pay his employees lower wages and fewer benefits " and the political benefit of attacking it."

Could have stopped there, and "no."

AU

And then if recall correctly, when Trump's hiring practices went public, Junior went around the fired them all.

And now, with so many of his properties likely to go into a Court Ordered Receivership, and himself fighting for his life to stay out of prison while running a campaign while worried sick about a Supreme Court decision about his immunity, not to mention his obsession with a future revenge binge, I have my doubts that hiring illegals is foremost in Trump's mind.

Maybe later if he beats all these raps.
