China seems to have called Pres Trump's bluff on tariffs.

Pres Trump seems to have a need to lie about talks going on with China, while China is denying that any such talks are occurring.

China social media seems to be enjoying Pres Trump's retreats ...

China trolls the Trump administration with AI, satire, and mockery
www.moneycontrol.com

... As tensions escalate between the United States and China, Chinese internet users -- from nationalist influencers to irreverent creatives -- are unleashing a wave of online trolling aimed at President Donald Trump and his administration. Fuelled by artificial intelligence, satire, and sharp cultural commentary, the digital jabs are as creative as they are cutting, painting the US leadership as absurd, out of touch, and authoritarian, the New York Times reported.

From parody songs to drag satire

One of the most widely shared pieces of political satire is "The Song of MAGA," a parody produced by a former YouTuber known for mocking Chinese President Xi Jinping. The video reimagines Trump, US Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Elon Musk as Maoist-style Red Guards chanting pro-Trump slogans while holding red books beneath a giant banner proclaiming "SERVE THE PEOPLE." Set to the melody of a 1960s Chinese revolutionary anthem, the lyrics mimic Cultural Revolution propaganda ...

Vance, in particular, has become the focus of intense trolling after calling Chinese citizens "peasants." In one A.I.-generated video, a heavily made-up character resembling Vance applies eyeliner while promoting "hillbilly brand eyeliner -- made in China." Another meme shows a cartoon peasant confronting Vance: "Do you realize your tariff policy will raise the price of your eyeliner?"

Vance is now widely known across Chinese social media as "the eyeliner man." ...

[entire article is worth a read if you're interested in China's view of the US, imo]

China seems to have called Pres Trump's bluff on tariffs.

True, but both countries are hurting.

This won't end well, at the end of this "transition" time China will win. Americans just don't play the long game.

I wonder how that will affect Smithfield Foods. They are Chinese owned.

I didn't know that.

The effects of that may be interesting, especially since any semblance of rationality seems to be missing in Pres Trump's capricious tariff policies.

Smithfield foods was bought out by a Chinese form back in 2004. They are the largest hog producers in the country.

Best of luck to pig farmers.

From the Googs:

Pig farmers are also known as hog farmers or swineherds.

So... China's Pres Xi seems to be serious.

Now going after American farmers. Will Pres Trump's tariffs be able to pay for the the subsidizes Pres Trump now may have to give pork farmers?

Does not look like China is backing down to me ....

No worries! Fishpoo says Trumpy has got this because Dems don't know what to do!

And I for one believe this random hater who posts random Russian agitprop to fluff up Trumpy on the internets.

Good thing I don't raise pigs or soy beans or build 737s.
And good thing that temu stocked their American warehouses before the tariffs were announced. Just got a bunch of stuff from temu Texas.

One: China has stuff we need and want. All America has to offer is consumers. They can source everything elsewhere. And it wouldn't take much for Xi to convert China's economy from infrastructure to consumer based.
