Because of the ease in grifting it allows for.
Same reason trumpy loves real estate. It's a great place to launder money from the Russians, etc or accept bribes, errr, "gratuities".

That's one of the easiest questions to answer. Crypto is a gold mine for shady rich people. Has been for some time. Even Mayweather got into it because of how lucrative it is...and he openly touts everything he does is for money which says everything you need to know.
Anyone who hasn't gotten on the crypt train is leaving a lot of money behind. I've gained quite a lot from it. You just have to know the cycles of each type and know when to buy and sell. It's actually incredibly simple and it is more certain than any other type of investment other than real estate. Everything is always a gamble but crypto has shown more trend stability than even real estate has in some perspectives. I only do about 10% of my portfolio in it and the rest in traditional stocks/ETFs, but that 20% outgains my much larger stock premiums/dividends significantly.

Has the orange pedo figured out a way to use crypto to steal from cancer charities?

For the umpteenth time: Cryptocurrencies are vehicles for naked speculation and criminal activity, and nothing more. Der Dotard is too stupid to be a speculator, so he's into crypto for the crimes...

"Anyone who hasn't gotten on the crypt train is leaving a lot of money behind."
I hate to break it to ya.
Everyone who goes into the crypt leaves ALL of their money behind.
Momento Mori.

Why is the fat orange grifter into crypto? Give us a break. It's all about moving money around to bribe the pig and rob our country blind. That simple.

Grifting, profiteering, and money laundering capabilities.

Crypto is the currency for criminals like drug dealers, terrorists, human traffickers, mobsters, fraudsters, etc. Anybody can put money in anybody else's digital wallet and it's nearly impossible to track. Dotard loves it because Russia or anybody trying to win favor could put millions into his pocket and nobody is the wiser. There was a time when the government could track and shut down money sources for terrorists, we knew who was funding them and could seize accounts, not with crypto. I've worked more than a few cases in the last few years on drug dealers and fraudsters where previously we could we could write search warrants for banking info and figure how much they had, where it was, and seize drug funds, or figure out how much they stole and seize it to return to the victim, but with crypto that's impossible. At his heart, Combover Quisling is a mob boss, criminals love crypto, end of story.

But let's be realistic. That's a good 5% of global GDP, all told.
They're going to come up with a way to manage their finances. At the end of the day, it's just business. Capitalism does not need to comply with the law to generate wealth. That is not in the rulebook.
The United Nations, IMF and other leading international organizations have estimated that the dirty money laundered annually from such criminal activities constitutes up to 5 percent of global gross domestic product, or an estimated $3-5 trillion. My Occam's Razor explanation is that Trump is planning to loot the treasury via unregulated crypto trades.
Crypto is not untraceable.
But it is not very easy to trace and law enforcement has to rely on tools they do not understand, and it requires international cooperation due to the global nature of the Internet.
Crypto crime is exactly the kind of thing that "someone" in the United States could get away with if the Federal government decided to stop cooperating with other investigators and also not investigate anything domestically. Cutting all that red tape is good for business.
