Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Frank Figliuzzi: The more we learn about FBI Director Kash Patel, the more concerned we should be about our nation's security. Even before Patel took office, there were deep concerns about his truthfulness and his perceived blind loyalty to President Donald Trump, and there were reports of an apparent blacklist of people he might target for revenge. Those concerns remain, but now, about 80 days into his tenure, Patel is also looking like an absent, uninterested leader.

Most of these agencies are being run by the commandos put in place by the Heritage Foundation and Project 2025 people. The people who have to get congressional approval are just the figure heads and mouthpieces so it stands to reason they don't know anything about running their agencies.
This is a FEATURE of modern Republican government and not a bug.

They were put in place specifically to undermine the agencies they'll head. And I'd guess they'll be very good at that purpose.

This is what happens when unserious people occupy serious positions. POTUS, por ejemplo. Old Yeller will never appoint anyone to a visible position who he doesn't think even dumber than himself. Talk about self-owned. Sheesh.

It's the most tragic Cos-play in modern world history. 34/47 thinks he's a casting director FFS.

Convince me I'm wrong.

Patel is lazy and incompetent.

You don't need to read his mind.

You just look at his behavior.

Kash Patel's new way of leading the FBI: Fewer morning intel briefings, more pro sports events
www.nbcnews.com

... For decades, the head of the FBI has attended a daily 8:30 a.m. "director's brief," where he is presented the most important intelligence and law enforcement information gleaned from thousands of agents and analysts across the country, current and former FBI officials say.

And on Wednesday afternoons, the FBI director or his deputy held a secure video teleconference with the leaders of field offices across the country to share information about bureau priorities.

But that schedule has changed under FBI Director Kash Patel. Unlike his recent predecessors, Patel is receiving the "director's brief" two days a week, according to two current officials with direct knowledge and two former FBI and Justice Department officials familiar with the matter. Patel has also stopped holding the weekly Wednesday-afternoon video teleconference with FBI leaders, one current and one former FBI official said.

Patel's approach to his new job has raised concerns that he is not taking the position seriously enough, a dozen current and former DOJ and FBI officials told NBC News.

Officials who worked on the morning director's briefings were told that the schedule was changed because Patel sometimes failed to arrive on time, said two current and two former FBI and Justice Department officials familiar with the matter.

At the same time, Patel has drawn attention for regularly appearing with celebrities at professional sporting events around the country, according to flight logs and social media posts. ...

#21: Last century a colleague at work ("D.B.") saved up her money for a month-long spiritual sojourn to India. I suggested she read Siddharta by Hermann Hesse. A few days later I fell out of my chair when I heard her voice nearby.

"D.B! WTF are you doing here?" I asked.

She replied that after three days she had to leave India because she couldn't tolerate the filth, poverty, and treatment of women. D.B. had to step over people who were sleeping on streets and, as a comely lass, she was ogled by the males of Calcutta or Bombay (I forget now). D.B. also caught a bout of "Delhi belly".

"But India is a nuclear power," I said.
