"The brazen partisan redistricting underway in Texas, with Republicans attempting to entrench themselves in office and Democrats weighing a counter-offensive in blue states, was greenlit by the US Supreme Court six years ago," writes Joan Biskupic. cnn.it/4lezvnb[image or embed]

Texas reapportionment
- FTA

How's "gerrymandering" less than California or Illinois killing democracy?

WTF difference does your Whataboutism make?

All it does is avoid the current point by claiming hypocrisy. Unless you mean to say that it's OK because someone else did it. How many times does this need to be explained to you?

See if you can't make a comment about the points in the article.

Up until now, California utilizes an independent commission to determine its congressional districts..

So.

OneTrumpSlut is wrong as usual.

His posts have never been anything more than a waste of time to read.

What a bunch of drama queens. Nobody like gerrymandering but it's been around since this country was founded.

#4 - That's for damn sure. He's rarely right about anything, and flagrantly wrong or lying the rest of the time. What's inadvertent is he points out that CA and NY are currently in the process of fighting fire with fire - a fire TX and Trump started. It's time to kick some RED ass.

I see BR is here to pretend what TX is doing is just perfectly normal. Is BR a clueless little fckk, a useful MAGAIdiot, or a deceitful lying sack?

from The Bulwark article:

"Once, if a president or his subordinates wanted to cover up a problem, even a crime, they made labored efforts at obfuscation and concealment. Coverups were, as the term implies, pursued under the cover of darkness.

That's why the Washington Post, with the experience of Watergate in mind, came up at the beginning of Trump's first term with the slogan "Democracy Dies in Darkness." But that slogan applies to a different era.

Now Ghislaine Maxwell, one of two organizers of a massive and horrendous child sex trafficking ring of which Donald Trump appears to have had considerable contemporaneous knowledge, meets with the deputy attorney general of the United States"who had previously been Trump's private lawyer"and the White House openly embraces it.

A week later, contrary to the normal rules for a prisoner convicted of her crimes, Maxwell is transferred to a minimum security "Club Fed" facility. This was presumably as a down payment on not spilling the beans about Trump, and perhaps as an interim step on the way to a pardon.

This coverup is happening in broad daylight."

;;

Sad that Trump and MAGA are SO evil as to make Bloody Bill Kristol et al sound like the decent people in the room.

Democrat majority in Supreme Court rewrote Wisconsin's Districts so what Texas is doing is fair.

Name one good thing Republicans have done for working class Americans over the past two decades.

BushJr and Trump, 12 years combined.

What have they done other than give tax cuts to the super wealthy and funnel tax dollars into the pockets of the super wealthy.

Supreme Court is a non-partisan entity, but it's good to hear from MAGAdiots how they think about it. Clearly, MAGAdiots view the Supreme Court as partisan. ROoL oF LAw!

@#1 ... It's SO blatant and clear that even some Republicans see the dangers. ...

If Texas succeeds and the Republicans retain control of the House, then what are the odds that Pres Trump tells the House not to certify the results of the 2028 Presidential election, giving Pres Trump a possible reason to stay in power...

A map was posted online showing what would happening if all states gerrymandered their congressional districts.

It ends up with democrats having more seats than republicans.

Currently, California and New York use independent commissions to draw up congressional districts. Giving a lot of seats to Republicans.

Pretty sure Newsom is about to end that in response to the actions of Abbott.

@#17 ... Currently, California and New York use independent commissions to draw up congressional districts. ...

Also, the redistricting is usually done after a Census to take into account the changes in population shown by the Census.

Texas is redistricting halfway between two Census.
