"During his 2016 campaign, Trump pledged to eliminate the national debt, which was around $19 trillion at the time, within eight years."

So all the BS he spouted about eliminating the debt was just lies.

Or a bait and switch.

Turns out he doesn't want to eliminate the debt at all but is actually gonna raise the debt to a record $23 trillion. Hopefully with most of it ending up in his pockets and the pockets of the wealthy.

How's that FAFO feeling today maga maroons?

But at least we will all get two dolls and five pencils out of the deal.

Yay us!

Republicans will raise spend and cut taxes until America goes bankrupt.

While Republicans cheer.

Typical republican ploy. Drive up the debt, give billions away to your wealthy donors and then blame Democrats when you are out of the majority. They've been repeating this pattern since Reagan and the American electorate still falls for it.

DOGE was a ------- complete failure.

When you look at DOGE from the goal of killing oversight of fElon's companies, it was an astounding success.

It was never intended to cut government waste or fraud. It was all about creating chaos to disguise the goal of killing the government agencies that were holding fElon's companies accountable.

CPB
DOT
NHTSA

All investigations into his companies have been killed.

The outrage over USAID and other programs that were killed were smokescreen to hide his real goals.

Conservatism is on life support.

Don't Call This Conservatism

Much of American conservatism' today doesn't deserve the label.

Historically, in America, a conservative seeks to protect, defend, and pass on to the next generation the principles of the founding and the blessings of liberty.
If you wanted to destroy traditional conservatism, either ideological fusionism or temperamental, you could not design a better instrument than Trump.

Well if you want to play that game, little Boaz,
which you do,
Because you can only understand Politics like a Housewife watching her favorite Soap Opera:

Republicans love shutting down the government, then bending the knee and and raising the debt limit.
A pointless, Virtue Signaling theatrical exercise which costs more than simply raising the debt limit.
And you eat it up.

"3 million to northwestern to watch hamster fights"

That was over twenty years. So it's like $67k a year. Less than a penny from every taxpayer, for twenty years.

Where's the actual significant high dollar waste?

Because it was appropriated by Congress, it is not waste, or fraud, or abuse. You would have to show them embezzling or otherwise misusing funds for it to be fraud, and DOGE has never done that.

Waste and Fraud have specific meanings in government contracts.
"Spending You Don't Like" isn't Waste.
Just like "Sex She Regrets Later" isn't Rape.

Pick up a history book, ffs. One that admits the truth: Republicans changed America's fiscal sights from surpluses to deficits.

Clinton handed off surplus budgets, as far as the eye could see; Dubya handed off the largest deficits known to mankind.

Don't they teach history at West Point???

Here are the facts:

GOP in power: Massive increases in debt and deficits for every Republican president since Reagan
DEM in power: Deficits reduced to 1/3 of what the previous GOP administrations had their final budget year

Recently, Trump left a $1.5 trillion deficit his last budget year (2021) after Obama got Bush's $1.4 trillion down to $500b a year his last budget year (2017).

Republicans are the guilty party when it comes to our debt and deficits. Bush-Cheney took us from Clinton's last year of spending ($1.8t) and DOUBLED the debt and DOUBLED SPENDING too. That created systemic deficits and debt that continues to climb at the same time they seek tax cuts (reduced government income),

How is and has it been logical or "fiscally responsible?". Hypocritical at best.

Those are some facts ...

Don't Call This Conservatism

The GOP has not been conservative since Nixon.

Since Raygun they have been borrow and spend in order to bankrupt the nation in a futile attempt to kill Medicare and Social Security.

It may take them a hundred years, but they are hell bent on accomplishing it.

By the time they get it done, it will be too late to correct course and America will be dead.

But the 1% will have their castles and private security and the rest of the public can ---- off.

#53 | Posted by Nixon at 2025-05-15 09:12 AM | Reply

The GOP tax bill is on track to add more than $2.5 trillion to U.S. deficit.

The cost of the bill is likely to amount to more than $2.5 trillion " and as much as $3.3 trillion, counting the interest owed on new debt.

And Trump wants to keep tax cuts in place for people who don't need them! "Fiscal conservatives" my ---."
