"You don't have the authority to arrest US citizens," [NYC Comptroller Brad] Lander said. "I'm not obstructing, I am standing right here in the hallway. ... You don't have the authority to arrest US citizens asking for a judicial warrant."

Apart from all the other outrageousness, certainly the assault charge is demonstrably false. We see the video. What Lander was doing was pretty textbook civil disobedience. He didn't hit anyone. The Trump White House theory is that physical contact with a police officer (in the broad sense) ...[image or embed]

Moments earlier, the immigrant had their case dismissed pending further appeal.

As the agents moved to pull Lander away and take the immigrant into custody, the comptroller shouted, "Show me your warrant, show me your badge."

The suspect ICE was arresting just walked out of court after having his case dismissed pending appeal. Despite the dismissal ICE/FBI still moved to arrest the suspect without warrant. Agents then also arrested Lander when he challenged them to them show a signed warrant.

We've seen this sort of thing with other cases. ICE will likely now attempt to perform an expedited removal, a process by which they quickly remove the suspect from the country thus denying them of due process via the court system.

Charges dropped after NYC Comptroller, mayoral candidate Brad Lander arrested at immigration court

... New York City Comptroller and mayoral candidate Brad Lander has been released after he was taken into custody by federal agents on Tuesday afternoon.

Lander was taken into custody at immigration court as he tried to "accompany" a person out of a courtroom. That person was also arrested.

Lander walked out of 26 Federal Plaza around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday with Gov. Kathy Hochul who said the charges against him have been dropped.

"I did what I could do to intervene, there are no charges," Hochul said.

Lander also spoke out to the awaiting press that had gathered.

"I'm happy to report I am just fine, I lost a button, I'm grateful to hear there are no charges," Lander said.

This is the third time Lander has gone to federal immigration court to escort immigrants, but the first time he was detained by ICE agents, his office says ...

Saw that coming. He didn't do anything wrong. They had no legal basis for making an arrest. They just can't tolerate people who expect ICE to follow the law and do things like get warrants.

Gov released a statement saying anyone who 'lays a hand' on ICE agents will be arrested.

The only hands laid on the ICE agents in the video are NY Police arm in arm walking the agents, who look like gang members, away from the Court and the Controller.

If that were actually a true statement any ICE agent or any federal agent who put their hands on any citizen (or even a non-citizen) illegally then they would be held accountable and face "consequences", too.

As of yet I have not seen any of that.

Apparently they think the law only applies to who THEY say it applies to.

Who illegally arrested Garcia and then illegally sent him and others they illegally arrested to El Salvador? Have they been arrested and handcuffed and are being made to face the consequences of breaking the law? They had obviously laid their hands on a noncitizen and deported him and others illegally.

The false arrests won't stop until law enforcement officials are subject to prosecution for falsifying an arrest. Unless there are criminal and/or civil penalties for arresting people with false charges, no one with a badge will see what they are doing as anything but lawful, a tool to control people, all while feigning ignorance and hiding behind "department policy". Goose stepping traitors.

I'm telling you guys who support Trump: You can pick this story apart like you pick apart every other news story that appears on this page or any other. You can argue until you're blue in the face, but you still have a jackass as a president. We see who he is and we see who you are.

There are pictures of this lawyer and mayoral candidate - another Democrat of course - plastered all over the Internet now, and in the newspapers and TV shows and everything else for the next few days. It's not broadening your appeal, I can tell you that.

Add to this the assassinations in Minnesota, the protests over the weekend and some of the overzealous responses, the arrest of the lawmaker in California, Trump's endless embarrassment on the world stage, a possible war with Iran, the Big, Stupid Bill snatching healthcare away from millions and giving the money to the rich, the resurfaced Epstein files, a giant DOGE fail, a lame parade. Battles with higher ed, battles with state officials, battles with past associates. A complete lack of grace at all times. It's a new, self-inflicted controversy every day.
