"US officials, including Trump, have briefed European leaders and Ukrainian officials on a plan offered by Putin to halt the war in Ukraine in exchange for significant territorial concessions by Kyiv, according to Western officials briefed on the matter.

The plan, which Putin presented to Trump's foreign envoy Steve Witkoff in a meeting in Moscow on Wednesday, would require Ukraine to cede the eastern Donbas region " the majority of which is currently occupied by Russia " as well as Crimea, which Russia illegally annexed in 2014.

The plan would freeze current battle lines, but other details of the proposal were still unclear."

This is while he was shafting another country he said he would help, and who he forced into giving up the land another country had taken... which sounds familiar, eh?

Pres Trump has already sold out Ukriane to Prs Putin.

He has already ceded occupied territories to Russia, and said that what would be left of Ukraine would not be allowed to join NATO.

So, this meetings looks more to be a "for the optics" event than anything substantial regarding Ukraine.

Pres Trump also earlier stated that Pres Zelensky would be part of a meeting with Pres Putin but, apparently, Pres Putin told Pres Trump to drop that requirement.

And Pres Trump seems to have obsequiously obeyed.

Meanwhile, Pres Trump has said that Pres Zelensky needs to "get ready to sign something."

"Location matters, former real estate mogul US President Donald Trump said.

Moments later he announced Alaska, a place sold by Russia to the United States 158 years ago for $7.2 million, would be where Russian President Vladimir Putin tries to sell his land deal of the century, getting Kyiv to hand over chunks of land he's not yet been able to occupy.

The conditions around Friday's summit so wildly favor Moscow, it is obvious why Putin leapt at the chance, after months of fake negotiation, and it is hard to see how a deal emerges from the bilateral that does not eviscerate Ukraine.

Kyiv and its European allies have reacted with understandable horror at the early ideas of Trump's envoy, Steve Witkoff, that Ukraine cede the remainders of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions in exchange for a ceasefire."

US-Russia Peace Deal Proposed, Huge Win for Putin: Report
www.newsweek.com

... he United States and Russia are aiming to secure a peace deal that would lock in Russia's gains in Ukraine following its invasion three and a half years ago, according to a report by Bloomberg.

The deal would mean Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky giving up the entire eastern Donbas, Crimea and parts of Luhansk and Donetsk, where fighting is still raging, unnamed sources told Bloomberg.

Newsweek reached out to the U.S. State Department, as well as the Russian and Ukrainian foreign affairs ministries for comment via email on Friday.
Why It Matters

If confirmed, such a deal would represent a huge win for Russian President Vladimir Putin, who launched the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 with the stated goal of "liberating" the Donbas, despite concerns and condemnation from global leaders who viewed the war as unprovoked and unjustified.

The conflict has continued for years as Russia has struggled to make more substantial gains in Ukraine after its initial progress. However, peace deals have also stalled as Russian and Ukrainian leaders have not reached a consensus on key sticking points, such as whether Russia should keep its seized Ukrainian territory. ...

What Happens Next?

Full details of the reported proposal have not been released ahead of an upcoming meeting between Trump and Putin. Trump said this week that Putin does not have to meet with Zelensky as a condition to their sit-down. ...

Absolutely possible': US is considering inviting Zelenskyy to Alaska; says everyone is hopeful' it would happen

The White House is weighing whether to invite Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Alaska, where US President Donald Trump is set to meet his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, on August 15, as per a senior US official and three people familiar with the talks, reports NBC News. "It's being discussed," said one of the people familiar with the internal discussions."Everyone is very hopeful that would happen," said a senior administration official, noting that it was "absolutely" possible, reported NBC News.

Weighing whether to invite Pres Zelensky?

After Pres Trump had said that Pres Zelenski would be in the meeting, and that was apparently negated by his master Pres Putin?

But, taking a step back here ...

Pres Trump and Pres Putin seem to be meeting to discuss the fate of Ukraine as a sovereign country.

Am I the only person here who sees a huge issue with that?

And I can't picture Mr. Putin throwing away his lifelong goal just so Trump can get an award to "show up" Obama.

Mr. Putin wants to cement his legacy in history as the greatest leader Russia has ever known.

That's a lot to give up. Instead, I suspect these two gooney birds will join in a plot to stall Putin's advances until after Trump changes America into an autocracy with himself at the top of the heap. Maybe by another year or so.

Some of the "goodies" being Ukraine's minerals. Lewzer already made some kind of "deal" (that he has likely forgotten about) to grab those, but how much of it are on lands currently occupied by Russia? Will Putin be expected to cede those lands back to Ukraine just so Lewzer can have the minerals? I'd bet Putin also wants those minerals and might be reluctant to just hand them over to the US. Does Lewzer want a Peace Prize more than he wants minerals? Probably. It's all so complicated.

I can't read your article because it's blocked by a Privacy Agreement that I don't like.

However, I'm not going to disagree with the fact that the Bush/Cheney duo did a terrible thing when they lied about WMD and Yellowcake so Haliburton could get control of the untapped oil fields in Iraq. If they created a war for personal gain, then they should have been charged with more than violating the Constitution.

Bush and Trump have one thing in common ~~ an under-developed intelligence. That's to say, neither one of them were or are the brightest porchlight in town.

#54: TwinPac, here is the entire article:

"Voters in two towns in the US state of Vermont have approved a measure that would instruct police to arrest President George W Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney for 'crimes against our Constitution.'

The measure, passed in Brattleboro and Marlboro, instructs town police to 'extradite them to other authorities that may reasonably contend to prosecute them.'

Vermont, home to maple syrup and picture-postcard views, is known for its liberal politics.

State lawmakers have passed non-binding resolutions to end the war in Iraq and impeach Bush and Cheney, and several towns have also passed resolutions of impeachment. None of them have caught on in Washington.

Mr Bush has never visited the state as president, though he has spent vacations at his family compound in nearby Maine.

Roughly 12,000 people live in Brattleboro, located on the Connecticut River in the state's southeastern corner. Nearby Marlboro has a population of roughly 1,000."
