New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced on Sunday that he is dropping his third-party bid for re-election, narrowing the field for November's election. "Despite all we've achieved, I cannot continue my re-election campaign," Adams said in a video posted to X. "The constant media speculation about my future and the campaign finance board's decision to withhold millions of dollars have undermined my ability to raise the funds needed for a serious campaign." Adams' announcement comes after weeks of speculation that he could exit the race to help consolidate support for former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who is also running a third-party bid for mayor, against Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani, a state legislator.

Not really a surprise.

He wasn't even an "also-ran" in the race.

The only result of his continuing, in my current view, would be to assure that Mr Mamdani wins.

Now, at least, it looks like the race may be closer. Or not, depending upon where his supporters go ...

If Cuomo had any integrity, he'd drop out of the mayoral election, again.

Andrew "Benedict Arnold" Cuomo has no integrity whatsoever. He is a self-serving opportunist who used his father's name and connections to propel himself within the Democratic Party establishment. The disgraced ex-governor of NYS was then kicked out of office for sexual harassment and fabricating casualty numbers during the COVID epidemic, forcing him to return his Emmy Award. The former HUD Secretary under Bill Clinton now sides with NYC oligarchs and landlords against poor Zohran Mamdani.

The Kennedy clan had serious reservations about Andrew Cuomo when he married Kerry, daughter of RFK Jr and Ethel:

The cynical Andrew Cuomo and Kerry Kennedy tied the knot in 1990 and joined the clan: "Andrew refused to do anything fun, anything without a clear benefit to his career," a family acquaintance of the Kennedys noted. The Kennedy clan enjoyed a good time, and they saw it as a serious red flag when Cuomo took charge of wedding planning and banned toasts at both the wedding reception and the rehearsal dinner. Cuomo also disliked attending the famous Kennedy gatherings in Hyannis Port. Cuomo was wound too tight to let loose and join in the fun, and he eventually stopped going to the compound altogether. However, he always seemed to be around when media attention was present. "Andrew would always find the exact perfect place to stand so he could be in the newspaper the next day," a Kennedy relative told the outlet.

Local reporting seems to indicate that Mayor Adams had a fund-raising problem.
