Hopefully the Democratic Party learned some valuable lessons on Tuesday 5 Nov 2024 and 4 Nov 2025 and will field progressive, anti-oligarchy, antiwar candidates on Tuesday 3 Nov 2026, like the ones on Bernie's list.

The antiwar movement in the US is as old as the American Revolution.

With progressive candidates on Tuesday 3 Nov 2026, the Democratic Party can recapture the millions of pacifist voters they lost on Tuesday 5 Nov 2024 (6,265,888).

We can oust the Republicans, warmongers, antisemites, fascists, Islamophobes, and status quo dinosaurs this year by enlarging the "Big Tent" once again like we did on Tuesday 3 Nov 2020.

But candidates that receive AIPAC money or support ethnic cleansing in Gaza and the West Bank won't get the support of these millions of voters in future elections.

One wonders how much Islamophobia and Arab-hatred AIPAC can generate to make Americans so insensitive to the deaths of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank or Iraqi, Somalis, and Iranians.

AIPAC does a good job of it; we have to give them credit for their nefarious effectiveness.

- the DNC chose Hillary over Bernie.

The voters did that.

"The 2016 Democratic primary wasn't rigged by the DNC, and it certainly wasn't rigged against Sanders."

www.vox.com

What the "Rigged Election!" claim did was to make it possible for Trump to use that as vaulting pole and a Defense later.

I would have rather had the more liberal candidate, but Bernie was never going to win a national election... the reason he was even competitive was that he won 80 percent of the Caucuses.

And Hillary is and was a lot more liberal in her policies; she ran towards the middle so as not to lose swing voters, hoping that liberals could read her lips... and the polls.

But as Michelle Obama said recently, "don't ask about me running for Pres because you (we) aren't ready to have a woman President".

Meanwhile, we know Hillary lost.

But I see from the article that the Candidates Bernie endorses are being called "progressives" this time around, not "liberals", which is a very wise decision.

I've been a Bernie fan since 1972... but then again, I voted for George McGovern, too. And I caucused for the Rainbow Coalition and Rev Jesse Jackson in the '80's in Austin, so it's not like I haven't been idealistic, lol.

"Why Bernie Sanders Lost"

fivethirtyeight.com

He couldn't beat Biden, either. This country isn't what we want it to be, it's what it is, and we have to account for that.

I'd love to see Bernie in the WH... or Michelle or AOC or Mamdani or maybe Talarico or a lot of others.

It may end up that Trump's BIG FAIL will change things, let's hope that's the way it goes.

" You don't know that."

Yes, he does. Bernie would've been crushed. The opposition would've (wrongly) accused him of being a communist/socialist, and (rightly) accused him of wanting your taxes to go up BY A LOT.

It would've been a McGovern-style blowout.

Why Bernie Sanders Lost

Let me save you some time.

Sanders lost because the DNC tanked him like they desperately wanted to do with Mamdani.

What's amusing is witnessing you both repeating the Bullshht the DNC fed you.

Bernie was packing stadiums and auditoriums.

Hillary was having $10,000 plate dinners with democratic elites.

America wanted Bernie.

The DNC wanted Hillary.

Trump won.

The 538 article goes into Sanders' races in both 2016 and 2020... his losses to both Clinton and Biden, and no one made the fake rigging claim (which both Warren and Brazille backed off on right after that election) in his race against Biden.

We get the President we deserve via our votes... and as Trump proves, we have been very bad voters.

In 2016 a woman won the popular vote over a man in the presidential election.

The numbers on Tuesday 8 Nov 2016:

Dummkopf Trumpf (male): 62,984,828 (46.1%)

Hillary Clinton (female): 65,853,514 (48.2%)

Hillary Clinton was cheated of her victory by the anachronistic Electoral College system which was designed to keep the status quo in power, as well as Russian interference and James Comey's unwise comments about her personal OPSEC procedures.

Michelle Obama: "Don't ask about me running for Prez because you (we) the Electoral College system isn't ready to have a woman President."

BTW: Democrats historically do better at national elections during peacetime.

Woodrow Wilson (1916) and FDR (1940) won their elections before entering the global conflagrations raging around them. After Woodrow Wilson won, he could decide how to steer the country. When he was advised that a British loss would cost American banks billions of dollars because of loans to their banks that the Kaiser would never honor being repaid, Wilson started tilting isolationist America toward the Allies for the sake of those mega-banks and the US economy

In 1944, more Servicemen identified as Democrats than Republicans and the US kept the course with FDR against fascism.

Look at all the presidential elections from 1948 to 2024.

LBJ knew VPOTUS Hubert Humphrey was going to lose weeks before Tuesday 5 Nov 1968 because of the Vietnam War (Source: Phone transcripts released from archives).

LBJ himself didn't want to run again, which he announced on national TV on 31 March 1968, two months after this atrocity was perpetrated on 1 Feb 1968 and the Pulitzer Prize-winning photo went viral:

I'm just glad you didn't waste you time reading all that expert 538 babble!

And I was proven wrong about Obama; that this country would even elect a black man before they would any woman should have been obvious!

his losses to both Clinton and Biden,

Bernie was winning the 2020 primaries when they were abruptly cancelled due to fears of Covid and the nomination was handed to Biden.

Then Biden proceeded to do nothing for four years except have a stoke mid debate and handed 2024 to Trump.

"Bernie Sanders did not have the nomination "handed" to Joe Biden; rather, Sanders suspended his campaign on April 8, 2020, after a series of major primary losses.

While the COVID-19 pandemic did cause many states to postpone their primaries, it did not lead to a general cancellation of the contest."

Your article is based on nothing but speculation.

Hillary lost, Harris lost.

Thems the facts and you got nothing but presumption that the guy America wanted as president would have lost.

Bernie is still the most popular politician in the DNC.

Bernie Sanders did not have the nomination "handed" to Joe Biden; rather, Sanders suspended his campaign on April 8, 2020, after a series of major primary losses.

Your revisionist history is hilarious.

Bernie won most all the primaries.

Biden won South Carolina and Buttigieg won Iowa.

Then the primaries were canceled due to the dangers of Covid.

Biden's one win in South Carolina somehow catapulted him to win the presidential nomination.

- nothing but speculation.

Aw... there goes, 538's reputation. And without arguing any of their points, either, just making claims... like:

- but presumption that the guy America wanted as president

America had every chance in 2016 and 2020 to elect Bernie Pres, and I would have been thrilled if they had... but they declined both times.

They did give Hil the popular vote though, but it wasn't enough what with small red states having big influence.

#29 | Posted by Corky at 2026-02-12 03:33 PM | Reply

Also, Harris was the first person to drop out of the 2020 primaries, so clearly she was the best choice for the 2024 election.

I'm sure New Yorkers want Cuomo too.

The DNC said so!

Why didn't Mamdani drop out?

#31 | Posted by ClownShack at 2026-02-12 03:35 PM | Reply

Those Primaries were mostly postponed, not cancelled, and Bernie saw the writing on the wall when NY did cancel, and threw in the towel.

Bernie Sanders suspended his 2020 presidential campaign on April 8, 2020, acknowledging that his path to the nomination was "virtually impossible" after falling roughly 300 delegates behind Joe Biden."

Bernie saw the writing on the wall

Was it his eminent victory?

Prior to the "postponement" Bernie had won all the state primaries except South Carolina and Iowa, so New Hampshire, North Dakota, Utah, Colorado, Nevada, and California.

#33 | Posted by ClownShack at 2026-02-12 03:42 PM | Reply

He was 300 delegates behind with no hope of catching up... which is the only reason he quit the race.

The point being that this country had every chance to vote him into office, but never came close to doing so... more's the pity.

Perhaps they'll be ready for a real change next time... if there is a next time.

DJT said the other day that not Shady nor Little Marco, but that Trump Jr would be his choice to succeed him.

Imagine that.

#34 | Posted by Corky at 2026-02-12 04:12 PM | Reply

He was 300 delegates behind

Which time?

In 2016 when the DNC started Hillary off with all the superdelegates already planning on voting for her, or in 2020 when Bernie was winning and they "postponed" the primaries so they could conduct them without voter interference?

Face it, Bernie would've won both 2016 and 2020.
