The Spanish government recently withdrew its ambassador from Rogue state/Pariah nation Israel. ICC-indicted war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu continues making life miserable not only for the people in the Middle East, but for the people and economies of the EU, the US, and now Australia who is facing a gasoline shortage.

Did you know there are still people alive who have lived in Israel longer than Israel has lived in Palestine? True!

Good for the spaghetti eaters!

A LAND WITHOUT A PEOPLE FOR A PEOPLE WITHOUT A LAND!! The Ziofascist mantra!

That's right, when zionists came to Palestine 100 years ago there was absolutely NOBODY there.

And they have been killing and maiming and oppressing NOBODY ever since.

Pope Benedict XV used his emissaries at the post-World War One treaty negotiations to have the Holy Lands (Palestine) given to the Vatican to make up for the lost money-making Papal States following the 19th-century Italian Risorgimento.

The efforts failed and Palestine ended up a British mandate.

A few years later, Pope Benedict XV (or his successor) lamented after seeing prostitution and gambling sites discreetly opening up in the Holy Lands under the British mandate:

"Blech. The Holy Lands were better off in the hands of the [Muslim] Ottomans." [sic]

How many times have I said mixing religion and politics is not a good idea?

I didn't like it when Jerry Falwell and the Moral Majority did it, and I don't like it now.

I don't like seeing anyone, left or right, using the Bible to push political positions.

Now we're seeing where this leads. There are already reports of a bomb threat against Pope Leo's brother in Illinois. Nothing was found, but now he has to live looking over his shoulder.

That's exactly what happens when religious authority steps into political fights. It draws attention from bad players.

It wasn't a good idea for the Pope to step into this.

But here's my question. Where was this level of moral clarity from the Pope in the media when Iran was killing protesters?

There's getting involved in the internal affairs of a Muslim nation where you have no leverage or authority and there's this mess directly involving "christians" and his home country.
I can tell the difference. Why can't you?

I want to hear more Morris.

Really...I'd like to hear more about his perspective.

Strange to say, but with his compassion and moderation Pope Leo has become a great Pope and a great leader.

#20 | Posted by moder8 at 2026-04-16 03:45 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

The late Pope Francis assured Leo XIV's ascendancy with Dummkopf Trumpf in mind.

And this pope took the name of Leo because that namesake stood up to American occupiers in the Philippines who tried to buy church properties.

In 2024 Pope Francis also made daily calls to the Catholic leaders left alive in Gaza.

In Jan 2025 when POTUS Joe Biden cancelled his trip to Rome to present Francis with the Medal of Freedom because of the California wildfires (optics), many Vatican insiders knew that the late Pontiff was going to give Biden an upbraiding behind closed doors about the Israeli genocide against the Palestinians in Gaza.

How's that working out for you?
Morris and I have the same opinion of you:
You're a Pedo Protector.

I can't speak for Morris, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if the reason you are a pedophile protector is you were abused by a Priest as a child, and like a good Christian you forgave him.

Which is why forgiving child abusers is normal for you.

Snoofy,

No idiot.

I want to hear more clarification on why Morris believes the Pope waited until now to speak with stronger global condemnation.

On second thought, the answer seems obvious.

The moment the US acts, he becomes more forceful and demanding.

He seemed content to stay measured while Iran slaughtered protesters, but now suddenly he has found a firmer voice.

That is what I need clarification about.

Pope Leo wasn't quite about the internal civil violence in Iran before Trump's Folly of a war:

... but as it's become a world-wide debacle pulling in a very willing Russian and Chinese involvement, Leo has not let DJT use the mantle of Christianity as an excuse:

You're not seeking clarification.

You're seeking a reason to ignore The Pope, because you don't agree with The Pope.

Anyway, here's the answer:

While the Holy See does not intervene directly into the internal affairs of individual states, there were signs that Vatican officials were dismayed by the situation in Iran in January.

"I wonder how it is possible to attack one's own people, to the point of causing so many deaths," Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican secretary of state, said during a celebration for the exposition of a relic in Rome on January 19, as reported by EWTN.

"I don't like seeing anyone, left or right, using the Bible to push political positions."

Then you're really gonna hate the New Testament!

"I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me."

This was the opposite of how the Pharisees treated the poor, the sick, the destitute. The Pharisees would cross to the other side of the street, rather than be accidentally touched by someone they deemed "unclean."

@31

The Pharisees were becoming somewhat Romanized with their lust for money and power, although they were still not a Tribe that consented to fathers killing their daughters and keeping their sons, or holding mass forced executions at the Coliseum, or the genocide of several different peoples.

The world prior to growing Christianity in the early centuries of the CE was much different, than with Greece and Rome:

I watched several hours of the presumably BBC series on the history of early Christianity, from Jesus to Constantine, in the hotel room last night. Basically a story of, if you can't beat em, join em. And over centuries, co-opt them. A common story throughout history.

I didn't know the pivotal role of the superstitious Emperor Diocletian, who didn't have the stomach for endless persecution, no pun intended, and flipped from persecuting Christians to tolerating Christians on his deathbed. I have to wonder if Christians at the time believed as he did that his grievous cancer was a punishment by G-d for murdering so many Christians.

Fascinating stuff how Constantine re-imagined the Roman Empire as somehow both Christian and Pagan alike, so as to not alienate or inflame tensions. No crosses on Constantine's Christian monuments, for example.

I feel slightly less greasy holding Leonardo stock now!

Leonardo stock is up about 35% in a year.
You know what isn't up 35% in a year? My salary.

"Since 1996, dividends and capital gains have grown faster than wages or any other category of after-tax income."

That is the next sentence after the "Since 1975" quote I often cite. A quote that Trump has since removed when he removed the entire CIA World Factbook.

But you can still find this useful fountain of knowledge even though Trump destroyed the official copy for political reasons.
