Donald Trump told a Florida crowd that it is "treasonous" to say the US is not winning the war in Iran. The US president was speaking at The Villages in Florida, the world's largest retirement community, when he made the remarks.

CNN's Harry Enten: "Historic: More voters blame Trump (77%) for gas prices rising than ever blamed Bush, Obama or Biden. A rare majority trifecta of Dems (95%), Indies (82%) and GOP (55%) now blame Trump. And unlike what Trump/Rick Scott argue, 64% say the war hasn't been worth higher gas prices."

I enjoy a little treason in the morning. Smells like freedom.

It will shortly be treasonous to oppose Trump's golden ballroom. Not far behind that will be opposition to that great big, ugly arch.

We will be required to say "Peace Be Upon Him" every time we say the name Trump.

"If Men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and the next place, oblige it to control itself."
James Madison, "Federalist No. 51)

Madison explained carefully why he advocated for three separate, equal, fully operating branches of government. The current coup by neglect (see: Republican Party in Congress) would, in his Enlightenment mind, provide justifiable cause for rebellion. In fact, allegations of royal overreach and trampling on parliamentary prerogatives did arise as a rationale for rebellion in the 1770s.

What's truly treasonous is supporting Donald Trump:

"Treason is the crime of betraying one's country, specifically by attempting to overthrow the government, waging war against the state, or aiding its enemies."

He's done, and is doing, all three.

My opinion is that it is not treasonous, but supportive of our troops who are fighting in Pres Trump's pointless war.

War, or murderous attack on a Nation with the intention of stealing their oil, clearly an illegal war of aggression. Here I am writing of both the present wars against Iran and against Venezuela and of course the coming war with Cuba, a nation without oil but Cuban exiles have a lot of votes in Florida.

The late Sen John McCain (R-AZ) bristled whenever someone criticized "the Surge" of US forces into Iraq.

He demanded that people agree with him that the "Surge" was a success.

The temporary effects worked for a time in Iraq, but ultimately failed as the US was still an occupying power and the costs in soldiers and materiel eventually wore us out.
