Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

No one yet knows the details of the Iran deal that President Trump has been teasing on social media for the past day or so. The president himself has admonished his followers not to "listen to the losers, who are critical about something they know nothing about." But as this war stumbles to a close, it is clear that the president, too, is lost: He didn't know what he was doing when he began it, and now he doesn't know how to get out of it.

Trump told Axios that the chance of reaching an agreement with the Iranians was a "solid 50/50," and that he either would accept a "good" deal or "blow them to kingdom come." Neither of these things is going to happen. Instead, a piece of paper will, at some point, come out of a meeting room in Pakistan. It will certify that the United States must accept a major strategic defeat in the Middle East. And Donald Trump, who brought America to this point because of his ego and his incompetence, will sign it.

Deal making by a convicted felon and multiple bankrupt whose only way of succeeding lies in ripping off others. Whataguy.

Thoughts and prayers to the sclerotic vampire's victims, including those poor Iranians sufficiently desperate/naive to have actually fallen for his assurances of assistance.

Oh, well, nice day for a round of golf.

It will be an incoherent defeat because Trump is incoherent.

Trump's behavior is driven by sick pride, greed, and likely more mental disorganization than can be easily quantified.

He's not the first leader in world history to be this way.

Most of them ended very, very badly.

I spent Memorial Day reading about US Marines in the Pacific and being disgusted with Donald Trump.

If you don't get why, you're not an American,

"Trump . . . staggering . . . incoherent . . ."

One could play MadLibs with this.

Without a doubt.

This is trump's M.O. for his entire life.

Talk himself up as a genius, enter into something he has no understanding on, make some strategic decisions that make it entirely worse, look for people to blame, then walk away leaving others to clean up the mess and then take a victory lap.

Who knew having a war mongering fux nooz couch potato drunkard as secretary of war would be such a disaster?

Everyone who was not kissing his ass.

What a joke this nation has become.

Dad served in the pacific in the Army.

He mostly talked about the fun things they did, playing baseball with the USO, stealing liquor out of the bags of officers they were unloading, catching monkeys to sell to the sailors, etc. But every once in a while he would get quiet and the stories that would come were horrendous.

Mom said he walked the floor of the house every night in a nightmare, not quite asleep and not quite awake. She knew better than to wake him, he would talk as if he were constantly under attack. He'd return to bed and awake in morning, get dressed and go to work like nothing happened. She didn't know him before the war so she had no reference but his mom said he changed. How could he not?

In the end he was one of the most patient, forgiving and loving man I ever knew. He never raised his voice in anger because as he said "I've seen enough anger to last ten lifetimes".

It was my good fortune to know some of those WW2 veterans. Never heard the ones who had been in actual combat ever speak of it as anything other than the most goddamn awful horror they wouldn't wish on anyone they could readily name. And they certainly didn't speak of it in the cartoonish terms used by cowards like Trump and Hegseth. Those Navajo Code Talkers from the Pacific fighting? When they returned to the Rez they went through powerful ceremonies specifically designed to rid them of the disharmony of war and reincorporate them into society..
