President Donald Trump denied disaster aid to four Democratic-led states in a move that is raising new questions about whether he's injecting political motivations into emergency management decisions.

Trump on Friday rejected $227 million in aid requests from New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Rhode Island for help recovering from a major snowstorm in February.

Two days earlier, Trump approved Federal Emergency Management Agency disaster aid for six Republican-led states, while extolling the political virtues of GOP politicians and candidates in the states.

raising new questions about whether he's injecting political motivations into emergency management decisions.

Really need to ditch this faux neutrality s*&^.

That's exactly what's happening and has been happening since the beginning.

My question is why is Trump approving this funding to begin with? He shouldn't have a damned thing to do with where money goes from agencies.

Any funding put aside for disasters has been deposited into Trump's Qatar bank account.

It's more than apparent Trump believes our taxes are his to spend.

MAGA is no different than the North Koreans who believe Kim Jong-un is a God.

"Aid was denied (in Kansas) as well."

Your Governor has the wrong letter after her name.

The fires dont meet the threshold for funds, this explanation is in the video you posted, expected a little more out of you Eberly.

The latest request was granted....

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) " Areas of Kansas damaged by severe storms this spring will soon receive federal disaster aid.
The Kansas Adjutant General's Office announced Thursday that President Donald Trump had approved Gov. Laura Kelly's request for disaster aid for storms that struck portions of Kansas on April 26 and 27.

The aide for the fires was denied, was that the fires didn't meet the min threshold.

like what?

and why?

Is it possible those other applications for aid were denied for a similar reason?

I'm simply adding more local context for the denial in Kansas.

does the attached article mention that aid to red states were denied or just that applications from blue states were denied? Perhaps aid to other red states were also denied for similar reasons.

"POLITICO's past reporting showed that in this term Trump had approved just 23 percent of disaster requests from states whose governor and two senators are Democrats, compared to approving 89 percent of requests from states with Republicans in those positions."

That's pretty obvious.

idk much about snowstorms but isn't that pretty typical in the North East to get snow storms?

Reading about it, sounds like a once-in-a-decade sort of storm. Seems like Trump should cut a check for the money, at the very least the delta for typical storm vs the noreaster.

His same argument could be said for Florida hurricanes.

Obviously this Aid Money was needed for friends of Trump who own coal mining and strip mining of National Forests companies.

He'll even start a war for Greenland for his friend that wants mineral rights there.

Of course, he gets a cut of all this action.

I saw it all on my local news last night which is why I attached it in the first place.

I knew all of it already.

Nah you can't use that sort of metric in this case. You need to look at them case by case. I dug around looking at the NorEaster data, it seems reasonable, but not everything. For instance there is no release to the public of how the money will be spent. Seems to me this would be public information, how much does this bridge need? Or that bridge?

But many requests don't meet the rational, especially these "fires in CA".

A reasonable argument is, you can't ignore Federal recommendations on fire prevention, then when "disaster" strikes, come running for money.

All that being said, the Federal Gov sends billions to FL for hurricanes.

Which IMO is like an earthquake every two years. Seems to me there should be a Federal property tax on all homes and property in FL that expect Federal assistance after a hurricane.

Just my two cents.

too politically sticky.

Same goes with flood. The recurring horrible flood areas should be eliminated.....but it's too sticky.

and it's likely they knew it would be denied and for reasons they already understood.

but no/little cost in throwing a hail mary.

Are you saying Trumpers are sensible, and not emotional tampons?

Fun aside, Eberly is a sensible poster, I have never heard anything unreasonable from him. We disagree on somethings, but overall he's even keeled.

IOW, He's not an emotionally stunted individual like you, ShouldntSpeak and TruthNLies.

Regarding floods, I understand, but the government does outline "this is a flood zone"... ergo tough luv if floods happen if you build there.

Hurricanes have a randomness about them, but not completely.

He's not going to suck your dick and I'm pretty sure no one cares what our "Open Borders, Liberal, Chinese" liar thinks.

But that's probably the real reason you want to play nice with Eberly.

He's the only poster who doesn't openly mock you.

Downplaying Trump's Party over Country behavior with Federal Funds, his Loyalty over Patriotism in his appointees to what are traditionally non-partisan positions in Federal offices... his scams to benefit himself and his friends, his criminal convictions, his massive misogynism, his warmongering, and his refusal to follow the Law when it comes to releasing Epstein Files...

... is just another day in the life his sycophants, who like to pretend that he's just like any other politician of either Party.

Which is, of course, delusional.
