Starve Americans (not to mention cutting healthcare for them) so that billionaires can receive a multi-trillion dollar tax cut.

Yup, Pres Trump's Big Beautiful Bill.

And the GOP wonders why DSA seems to be increasing in popularity...

The most dropped enrolments seem to be the people under 54 who don't work.

Is it painful to be such a bitter and angry person?

Lefthindthirds.

You don't seem very excited about anything but "Owning the Libs".

I hope you find a good therapist.

I must suck to be so Angry.

"In Phoenix, LaDiamond Lopez lost her benefits in January, with officials telling her she needed more documentation about her income and household " something that's needed for officials to determine whether enrollees meet work requirements.

She's been skipping meals and some bill payments to ensure her children have enough to eat."

This doesn't really tell us anything unless you're someone who has been through this personally.

What does "more documentation" mean? what exactly are they asking for?

You don't care, Eberly.
Nobody cares.

"What does "more documentation" mean? what exactly are they asking for?"

They want to see her W-2s and her tax return.

Regardless, more hurdles to jump will ALWAYS lower the percentage of eligible people enrolled.

-They want to see her W-2s and her tax return.

Lemme guess ... you think that's asking too much?

They should just take her word?

They should just take her word?
#13 | Posted by eberly

So she needs to present notarized copies of her W-2 and 1040.
Or they should just take her word?

No, not at all. As long as they weren't chosen for scrutiny because, say, they're a poor person who was gifted an iPhone.

The, "Americans should starve so billionaires can have tax cuts" Party is an abomination.

Literally two days ago, I had to cut out actual W-2s and return them to a tax client's home state to prove state taxes had been withheld. It could be for any number of reasons why the state thought he had zero withheld instead of $8K, but none of them were ours.

Which reminds me: if a taxpayer files a paper tax return and the IRS loses it, that's legally on the taxpayer, who would then be responsible for substitute proof.

"what exactly are they asking for?"

Ideally, anything that doesn't pass the smell test.

Is she wearing designer clothes? Is she driving a new $80,000 car? Does she live in a neighborhood where the property taxes are more than most people's rent?

I've seen where people have listed their monthly bills, and that amount was considerably over the income they were claiming.

Frankly, investigating stuff like that is exactly what I hope happening.

-As long as they weren't chosen for scrutiny because, say, they're a poor person who was gifted an iPhone.

The lady quoted in the article was complaining about the documentation they were requesting, not scrutiny over her wardrobe. The article appears to be sympathetic towards her for bringing no documentation to prove she's eligible.
