Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

The GOP Convention audience roared in a bizarre moment Thursday as President Donald Trump had them raise their right hands and swear to get to the polls on Nov. 3 and to "try to cheat like hell like they do." Trump took the stage promising he'd be "brief" after giving a two-hour speech the night before on the convention's opening day, when he caused a firestorm by promising to dole out $5,000 checks to Americans should Republicans win the midterms. After insisting Democrats "want to cheat" and warning the party "would destroy everything we've built" if they win in the midterms, he then practically begged the crowd to make sure to get out to the polls.

"Cheat like Hell or you won't have a country anymore".

Has a familiar ring, doesn't it?

Hey, bunches of Trump's mob appear cool with cop beaters and killers, so why would election cheating - after years of exposure to and immersion in election-denial lies - phase the bleaters in the least?

"Empty seats, socialism and Trump dominate the Republican midterm convention

One of the more common pleas was for Trump supporters to support other Republicans.

"I'm asking you to pretend that I'm on the ballot," the president implored the first day.

"You know what happens if you don't vote? You go to hell," he said on the second night."

"Both days, there were thousands of empty seats, including almost all of the upper level, even as Trump insisted the arena was "packed" with "thousands" more waiting outside."

"Wednesday, Trump said that America "has beaten communism before and we will beat it again."

"In state after state, the Democrat establishment has been overthrown and replaced by crazed lunatics and radicals," Trump said.

"They call themselves Democrat socialists, but actually they're communists. They're not socialists. They're long beyond socialists."

Trump said that America "has beaten communism before and we will beat it again."

Yeah.. That's seems to be said a lot. Been thinking about that. But did we really "beat communism" before? When exactly was that? The collapse of the Soviet Union? How did that work out for us? Russia is not a friend of democracy. So looking out at the world today I dont really see where we have "beaten communism".

'Asked about President Donald Trump's proposal to dole out $5,000 to every adult American if Republicans win both chambers of Congress during the midterm elections, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis warned that borrowing to spend would cause more inflation.

"What I would say is, if you are getting surplus revenue, you should cut people's tax and return it to the people," DeSantis said on Thursday.

"What I don't think you wanna do is borrow another ... trillion and a half dollars and then just try to flood that into the economy, because that will lead to more inflation. That will lead to more debt," he said, "and more inflation."
