Amazing what it takes these days for the party of morals, values and law and order to begrudgingly push a member out of Congress.

Al Franken got pushed out for a picture...

Report Concludes Matt Gaetz Had Sex with a Minor

No wonder the orange pedo wanted him as AG.

The Republican-led House Ethics Committee in their report on Matt Gaetz:
"Nearly every young woman that the Committee interviewed confirmed that she was paid for sex by, or on behalf of, Representative Gaetz."

The party of family values in a nutshell.

At first I thought, well, he should be charged and arrested.

But, then I thought, what's the point?

Trumpy will just pardon him in order to "own the libs".

I believe "owning the libs" is a major plank in the maga party platform.

Gaetz' then-girlfrind "appeared to act as an intermediary" between Gaetz and women he paid for sex, the committee found, citing text messages it obtained. The committee said it found evidence that "Representative Gaetz's then-girlfriend sometimes participated with him in sexual encounters with other women who were active on the website or otherwise involved in sex-for-money arrangements."

The committee bolstered its findings by citing those text messages, including when Gaetz's then-girlfriend wrote to women that "the guys (Representative Gaetz and Mr. Greenberg) wanted me to share that they are a little limited in their cash flow this weekend ... (M)att was like(,) if it can be more of a customer appreciation week ... ."

"Scoop: How the Matt Gaetz ethics report finally came out

The House Ethics Committee's report into former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) had been poised to stay officially buried " until two centrist Republicans on the panel unexpectedly voted to release it, Axios has learned."

"Reps. Dave Joyce (R-Ohio) and Andrew Garbarino (R-N.Y.) sided with the committee's five Democrats in voting to release the report, two sources familiar with the matter told Axios."

Florida law - which Gaetz should know:

(1)A person 24 years of age or older who engages in sexual activity with a person 16 or 17 years of age commits a felony of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.
(4)The victim's prior sexual conduct is not a relevant issue in a prosecution under this section.
www.leg.state.fl.us

Florida Statute section 794.021 explicitly states that ignorance or belief regarding a victim's age is not a defense:

794.021Ignorance or belief as to victim's age no defense."When, in this chapter, the criminality of conduct depends upon the victim's being below a certain specified age, ignorance of the age is no defense. Neither shall misrepresentation of age by such person nor a bona fide belief that such person is over the specified age be a defense.

Gaetz is so innocent he resigned his seat in Congress to try & block the report from becoming public, then filed an emergency motion seeking an injunction to block its release, now can't fight the charges because he quit rather than stay and contest them.

As innocent people do.

Gaetz was such an arrogant, combative turd as a senator. Confrontational, holier than thou, thoroughly obnoxious. It's one thing to be lectured by someone who follows the straight and narrow outside of politics. Gaetz, however, has always been eager to jump on the shortcomings of others while his own personal life is that of an amoral libertine, connoisseur of illegal drugs, and a liar who tried to bully those who asked questions. He's worse than a hypocrite. He's a complete fraud. Scum. He deserves exactly zero mercy or benefit of the doubt.

Again. The accurate description is----------

I realize it is hard to think in those terms but that is what it is

Sex with a minor
Underage hookers
Tawdry
---- all those terms All that does is obfuscate the fact he raped a child. Those distractions are used to downplay what he did

We have no idea what coercion or threats or abuse lead these children into this situation. We have no idea of what these children's financial situations they were in that may have lead them to desperate measures

What we know is a 17 year old is a child and cannot consent

We are taking about raping a child. Speak of it in those terms and maybe just maybe Gaetz would not show his punchable face in public

#33 | Posted by truthhurts at 2024-12-23 08:31 PM

Not sure why that rant was warranted...

We were pointing out the stuff that was a major "scandal" to the Repubs just a few years ago.

Now, they'll go to bat and cover for a statutory rapist and drug fiend.

#34 | Posted by jpw at 2024-12-23 09:15 PM

On the issue of consent, does it make sense that a 17 year old can consent to gender reassignment but not to sex?

#39 | Posted by cbob at 2024-12-23 10:00 PM

On the issue of consent, does it make sense that a 17 year old can consent to gender reassignment but not to sex?

You mean if the 17 year old's parents give permission for her to have sex with a man twice her age? No, that's illegal in Florida, too. In fact at 17 parents can only give approval to marry someone no more than 2 years older than the minor (minor must be 17 years old. Not a day under).

Or are you talking about a 17 year old that falls under the Romeo and Juliet law of Florida?

In case you haven't figure out either - Gaetz fails all of the above. He committed a 2nd degree felony at least once that we know of.

Gaetz hasn't denied anything in the Ethics report, BTW. So you pathetic attempt to deflect is noted and laughed at for being bigoted, idiotic, and poorly executed.

Nothing in his report should surprise anyone. After many years of inuendo and suspicion, it's turned into "where there's smoke, there's fire." We've known since the days of Joey Greenburg's arrest that he and Gaetz were partnered up in procurement for sex.

My conclusion is that there's something seriously and mentally wrong with men like Gaetz who constantly have to use his penis to reinforce his manhood.

#50 | Posted by Zed at 2024-12-24 08:50 AM

I'm going to answer my own question.

MAGA wants that sort of world because then they no longer have to try. Because trying is so, so hard. Because it's just easier to let yourself be sucked down into the slime rather than crawl out of it.

Like Donald himself, MAGA is lazy. The old word is slothful. You want the world handed to you without the responsibility of living up to any standard, exactly like Donald.

Some of you just aren't cynical enough.

"Matt Gaetz has 3 critical assets that are needed for the AG role: a big brain, a spine of steel, and an axe to grind. He is the Judge Dredd America needs to clean up a corrupt system and put powerful bad actors in prison. Gaetz will be our Hammer of Justice."

followed by:

"As for these accusations against him, I consider them worth less than nothing. Under our laws, a man is considered innocent until proven guilty. If AG Garland (an unprincipled douchebag) could have secured a conviction against Gaetz, he would have, but he knew he could not."

Now that's a defense of Gaetz. From Elon Musk.

#71 | Posted by visitor_ at 2024-12-25 04:22 PM

From page 31, section 3 of the Ethics Committee report...

... There is substantial evidence that Representative Gaetz engaged in sexual activity with a 17-year-old girl. The Committee received credible testimony from Victim A herself, as well as multiple individuals corroborating the allegation.

Several of those witnesses have also testified under oath before a federal grand jury and in a civil litigation.

Representative Gaetz denied the allegation but refused to testify under oath.

He has publicly stated that Victim A "doesn't exist" and that he has not "had sex with a 17-year-old since I was 17."125 The Committee found that to be untrue and determined that there is substantial evidence that Representative Gaetz had sex with Victim A in July 2017, when she was 17 years old, and he was 35.

Representative Gaetz's actions were in violation of Florida's statutory rape law. ...

Graham on Gaetz nomination: Give Matt a chance' (November 14, 2024)
thehill.com

... Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) urged his fellow Republicans to "give Matt a chance" after President-elect Trump nominated former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) to lead his Justice Department, sending shockwaves through Capitol Hill.

With less than 70 days before Trump returns to the White House, he has begun assembling his team, Gaetz being one of the more surprising choices.

"So, we're going to give the president a chance to put his people forward. To every Republican: Give Matt a chance," Graham said Wednesday on Fox News's "Hannity." ...

@#74 ... A cabal of his enemies declare him guilty without a defense. ...

The House Ethics Committee has 5 Democrats and 5 Republican members.

He was offered the ability to provide a defense, but he refused.

#75 | Posted by LampLighter at 2024-12-25 07:37 PM

From page 6 of the Ethics Committee report...

... The Committee initially made a narrowly tailored request for information to Representative Gaetz seeking information limited to the allegations that would not be within DOJ's jurisdiction -- the alleged acceptance of an improper gift and sharing of nude images and videos on the House floor.

The request also invited Representative Gaetz to provide additional information relevant to any of the allegations under review.

Representative Gaetz sought numerous extensions and complained about the burden of the request. Representative Gaetz ultimately provided only three pages of information in response to the Committee's initial request.

On May 20, 2024, the Committee requested Representative Gaetz inform the Committee whether he would agree to participate in a voluntary interview and provided him a list of allegations so that he could make any response or provide any information regarding the allegations.

On May 24, 2024, Representative Gaetz provided brief written denials of the allegations and "demand[ed] that the [C]ommittee address [leaks'] prior to me providing any oral testimony to the Committee."

On June 28, 2024, the Committee requested that Representative Gaetz provide the Committee with all records previously produced to DOJ, as well as dates of availability for an interview, by July 8.

At that time, the Committee made an explicit request for any exonerating information.10 The Committee also informed Representative Gaetz that it could not permit further delays.

Representative Gaetz did not produce the requested documents or dates of availability, and on July 10, he asked for an extension through the August recess to produce documents he deemed "appropriate."

Representative Gaetz did not provide these documents, despite multiple extensions provided by the Committee.

The Committee noted to Representative Gaetz that an interview would be an "opportunity to respond to the allegations against you and relevant questions arising out of the review." ...

What leaks?

Got links?

That aside...

Did they demand he prove innocence, or did they give him the opportunity to present his exonerating evidence?

This was an investigation, not a Court of Law.

The investigation releases a report.

It is up to a Court of Law to prove innocence or guilt.

So, then the question seems to become, why didn't fmr Rep Gaetz provide any exonerating evidence to the Committee?

Maybe, just maybe, he did not have any exonerating evidence to provide?
