The last time Americans likely noticed spiking prices at the grocery store was when eggs reached record-highs.

June's consumer price index showed steak and ground beef prices are up 12.4% and 10.3%, respectively, over the last year.

Starting on day one, we will end inflation and make America affordable again, to bring down the prices of all goods.

IIRC that comment was about the specific kind of inflation we were experiencing and was and is accurate. A temporary increase due to supply chains, inventory, and a sugar hit from too much money injected into the economy.

This inflation is due to screwworm infections (IIRC) - like Bird Flu did to egg prices. You remember egg prices? You screamed at Biden for not controlling a virus and blamed him for egg prices. Egg prices are still high, by the way, but thankfully the past few months bird flu has significantly declined so we're seeing an easing on the price of eggs - finally. Of course Trump thinks they were down 400% 3 months ago (such an out of touch idiot).

BTW - Inflation is definitely heating up. Even the WSJ acknowledges that reality.

If the United States really wanted to get rid of all the undocumented people (which almost 2:1 the United States does not want to do) then the way to do it is to make these folks DOCUMENTED and LEGAL.

Thinking the "free market" is going to "fix" things without costing a dime, that labor will just appear, and we're all going to dance under rainbows shooting from unicorn asses is more than magical wishing.

If any of you have problems with affording meat, join your local Meals on Wheels. Not sure how true it is everywhere but I haven't paid for meat in over a year. In fact, after Hurricane Milton and losing power, we lost a freezer full of meat and estimated it at around $1.1k loss which we recovered for free over the next month. All of it was free for MOW drivers since they give up any meat they can't use opposed to throwing it away. Sure, it's always either close to the expiration or already expired but put that in the freezer and it will last months.

As I've posted on here before, there is money out there for everyone, you just have to work for it. You have to make effort. Not buying meat helps us a bit but doesn't make us rich...but compounding that on top of other little hacks you can do makes a significant difference.

The 35% federal funding that goes directly to local Meals on Wheels programs comes from the Older Americans Act Nutrition Program that falls under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The impact on these funds has not yet been announced but, given the proposed 17.9% cut prescribed for HHS, could be at risk.
