Stolen valor is one of those things that not-liberals seem pretty upset about, but because this guy is a MAGA, he gets a traitor pass.

That's a pay cut from (assuming full retirement and years) $16k to 8k per month. Still way more than he deserves. Couldn't happen to a more deserving POS.

I'm sure he'll spin some BS story of persecution and being wronged.

FTA:

"A Navy official confirmed the service branch took unspecified action against Jackson in response to the 2021 inspector general report, which found that he berated subordinates, "made sexual and denigrating statements" toward a woman who served under him, and took the sleep drug Ambien and drank alcohol with subordinates while on duty."

Again, who could blame him on the Ambien etc.? If I had responsibility for -------- physical health, and I had access to the proper chemicals, I'd take advantage of my employer throwing in substances that would leave me without memories of what I've done.

He should have been demoted to midshipman. Better yet, recalled to active duty then court-martialed.

He should be keel hauled THEN court marshalled... you know like they did when Uhmurika wuz great.

Watching this reminds me of why military service is overrated as a means to determine patriotism or service to the country.

So much winning!

Much of Cap'n Ron's congressional district is on fire right now, or has already burned. He must be asking for federal help in the most quiet way possible, so as to not lose his image as tough Texan in big hat with the ability to fight the flames hisself, along with his neighbor ranchers, without the feds getting in the way. Texas burning appears to be the most suitable mental image of many here in Okiehomie...

I thought MOST going into military service seen the military as a way to a good living. Don't get me wrong, there are a large number who do it out of "patriotism" but I thought about every person I know who has gone in. There are basically 2 groups - the 911 joiners and the rest. 911, did cause a lot of people to do it out of patriotism and I can think of 3 that joined at that time. I lost one friend that joined for that reason. The rest did it because it was a way up or an experience I quit counting at 30 people. I lost 2 friends who joined for that reason. My military friends and acquaintances go from Privates and Sergeants to Colonels. It's interesting to see how many folks made a career out of it. None of them joined for patriot reasons. The 3 that did quickly became disillusioned and left after their initial contracts.

The Navy (and other Armed Forces) tend to frown
on blatant liars and those that misconstrue the truth,
let alone abusive leaders. All positive changes
to the military...

Everything Trumpy touches dies or goes bankrupt eventually.

The Navy is a professional organization and frowns upon evil hateful clowns.

Also ... It's not nice to fool Mother Navy.

That's a pay cut from (assuming full retirement and years) $16k to 8k per month.

My understanding is that there are several ways to calculate a pension, and that which one applies to you depends on when you started and maybe even what your job was. Sometimes it's based on your highest three years of pay in which case a demotion wouldn't impact the pension. Do you know which system Ronnie is in?

#13 | Posted by JOE at 2024-03-08 11:05 AM | Reply

Simplest way of looking at it is it depends on years in and rank. Yes, there are dependencies, but assuming he'd made Admiral, he was in for many years, 25-30. With that assumption you only need to control for 'rank' and his demotion. You can then use the standard chart based on rank, since years in are equal.

The unknown is exactly how many years in and what his Admiral retirement rate was. That doesn't change that the cut will be pretty much half of what he was making as I read the charts.

#13 Joe You are correct. It has to do with when you started. I joined in 1978 and retired in 1998 as a SSG in the Army. I received half my current pay as my retirement. What your job was not so much unless you got hazardous duty pay because of your job. I don't know if that carries over into retirement. We also get disability when we either get out or retire. Army doctors at the VA determine how much retirement you get. If you get 50% and higher you get disability pay in addition to your retirement. Below 50% the disability is taken directly from your retirement paycheck. The other retirement systems that are in play are to cheat retirees out of their earned retirement pay.

Yes, but it's the same person, same conditions, same retirement years, etc. so the only change is rank. For "ronnie" it still works out to ~50%. I'd love to see how it could be different, and hopefully even worse, though - so I'm open! I enjoy being wrong :)

#16 | Posted by YAV at 2024-03-08 11:33 AM | Reply

#14 But how do you know whether Ronnie's pension is based on his "high 3" or final pay rate?

#17 | Posted by JOE at 2024-03-08 11:45 AM | Reply

The calculations are far more generous for folks hired under the old system; there have been 1-2 reforms over the years where anyone hired after that is subject to different calculations.

Not Captain Ron. Dr. Spaceman.

#19 | Posted by RandGomer at 2024-03-08 12:04 PM | Reply

Yeah, plus his promotion was, according to him, by Obama, and it was actually to Read Admiral, Lower Half, which I believe is an 07, and his demotion would be to an 06. He also served 24 years, 1995 to 2019, so he doesn't have all the years in normally associated with an Admiral position.
