From the New Yorker article...

Mike Johnson, the First Proudly Trumpian Speaker

... Though he has adopted a "nerd constitutional-law guy" persona, he is in lockstep with the law-flouting former President. ...

"Trump learned a lot of painful lessons in his first term," Johnson told me, including that liberal bureaucrats in government agencies "might be working against him." A second Trump term would be like the first, but "on turbo," Johnson promised, adding, "I think we are going to be right off to the races!" ...

In a second Trump presidency, there will be no need for a Speaker of the House. There's no need for one now. Someone like Johnson may remain a figurehead, but Trump will be the real Speaker. Provided MAGA keeps the House, of course. But Trump is quite capable of arresting the number of Democrats back down into a minority.

You will get Trump for 4 more years. And then it's likely you will get his VP for another 4 to 8 years.

Yea, Trump the dictator will step down in 4 years.

Sure buddy.

Keep chugging that hydroxychloroquine.

Trump loves the poorly educated, like you.

And one expects that, if he loses in November 5, 2024, there really will be bloodbaths in various places as his followers decide they want their dictator out of jail. Turbo also would include massive discrimination against those who are not far right white christian nationalists, including atheists like me. His purge in government would last longer than his four years if he wins.

MAGA has been electoral poison for three cycles.

But yeah, they're suddenly gonna be a dynasty.

And WHO actually ran the Executive branch? Because it damn sure wasn't Trump.

It was the Federalist society, the Heritage foundation, Mitch McConnell, Steve Bannon, Steve Miller. And lets not forget that Putin wrote his foreign policy.

All Trump did was sign what they gave him and write his Nuremburg rally speeches.

Last time around, Trump put a few patriots in place though over time nearly all left his administration. Next time around there won't be a single patriot and only pro super rich and pro Putin yes men.

I'd agree that we're likely to get single party rule for the foreseeable future. You may think that's what you want. But when you finally figure out that it's not, it will be too late.

Cult Leaders don't have close associates with their same appeal; Trumpism will go back to the Tea Party without him.

That's what happened in Rome.

The senate relinquished its power to Caesar.

If republicans win the presidency and both houses of Congress.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the same thing happen.

Caligula tried to make a horse a Senator in Rome, but was assassinated before it happened.

Trump has already made a jackass Speaker of the House.

Is "Turbo" the new street slang for crystal meth laced with crack?

#16 | Posted by hamburglar at 2024-03-17 07:04 PM | Reply

No, Trump has already suggested that if he wins in 2024, it'll be either Don Jr or Eric who'll be running in 2028.

Awesome! So you mean peace in the Middle East (and Ukraine), inflation that isn't out of control, a plethora of investing in American oil and NIL, appliances that don't cost a small fortune, trade becoming more American-heavy than China, a lot less border problems, etc....oh, and an orange guy who said mean and/or not politically correct things.

I'll take the orange guy who said mean and/or not politically correct things if I can get all of that other stuff back again please. Don't like the guy but my head is also not buried in sand so the pros significantly outweigh the cons in this regard. Liberals would unbury themselves too if they didn't have to be so nonobjective. And I'm not even saying a Dem candidate wouldn't be better but Biden has proven he is not what this country needs at this time.

So you mean peace in the Middle East ...

There has never been peace in the Middle East.

(and Ukraine),

Talk to Putin

inflation that isn't out of control,

Inflation is no longer "out of control" like Trumpy left it.

a plethora of investing in American oil and NIL,

What? Investing is bad now? I cannot keep up with you maga maroons.

appliances that don't cost a small fortune,

They always have been expensive and they used to fail quicker due to built in obsolescence and now they are lasting longer becoming more high tech internet connected and energy efficient ... you don't want that? Buy the cheap models without all them fancy features then.

trade becoming more American-heavy than China,

What does that even mean? Trade deficit? Our trade deficit with China was below anything Trumpy managed even with his trade war with China.

a lot less border problems,

Blame that on Trumpy (he insists!). Trumpy wants border problems. It's good "politics" for him. Biden wants to get beyond the politics and solve the actual problems. Trumpy wants a political problem he can use as a wedge to divide Americans and clobber democrats with.

We have always had border problems and they fluctuate according to global environmental and economic conditions, wars and gang violence.

etc....oh, and an orange guy who said mean and/or not politically correct things.

We haven't had anyone like Trumpy try overthrow his own government and try to divide Americans and create as much chaos division and political violence as Trumpy has since the civil war.

Inflation is no longer "out of control" like Trumpy left it.

The orange lewzer flooded the US with $$$$ in 2020 through stimulus checks, expanded unemployment and easy to get PPP loans which fueled the inflation in a vain attempt at buying votes.
