Earth's land lost much of their ability to absorb the carbon dioxide humans pumped into the air last year, according to a new study that is causing concern among climate scientists that a crucial damper on climate change underwent an unprecedented deterioration.

The scientists behind the research, which focuses on 2023, caution that their findings are preliminary. But the work represents a disturbing data point " one that, if it turns into a trend, spells trouble for the planet and the people on it.

"We have to be, of course, careful because it's just one year," said Philippe Ciais, a scientist at France's Laboratory of Climate and Environmental Sciences who co-authored the new research.

But the results, he added, are still "worrying." If extreme warming continues, society risks losing "the best friend of humanity" in Earth's land. ...

Population is the biggest contributor to climate control. Maybe if stopped letting people in the country, it might get better.

Two things need to happen ...

1. There needs to be population control inside nations.
2. All nations should take in no more refugees or immigrants.

Lamplighter: When you read "The Road" (2006), Cormac McCarthy doesn't tell the reader how the world became a terrible wasteland. Instead, he describes a grey-colored world full of ash where flora stopped growing and some survivors are observed wearing gas masks. By his prose, I interpreted that tremendous forest fires filled the atmosphere with particulates, smoke, and ash, blocking out the sun, while simultaneously ruining the soil and crops.

Americans have the biggest carbon footprint per capita by far.

More Americans = more emissions than more Palestinians or Germans, etc.

Their carbon footprint is smaller in those countries.

If the people come from Africa or Indonesia the carbon footprint is even less, going to far more, when they relocate.

Americans are polluting swine. New Americans are more swine.
