In his brief remarks introducing the former president at a Georgia State University arena, Vance told the crowd: "They couldn't beat him politically, so they tried to bankrupt him. They failed at that, so they tried to impeach him. They failed at that, so they tried to put him in prison." Then, gesturing emphatically, Vance declared: "They even tried to kill him." After three weeks of intensive FBI investigation, no evidence has emerged supporting that claim. The motive of the deceased 20-year-old gunman, who was registered as a Republican voter but appears not to have been driven by partisanship or political ideology, remains unknown. As I've reported in the weeks since the horrific shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania, top Trump allies repeatedly have promoted unfounded conspiracy theories and blamed Trump's political opponents without evidence. Multiple threat assessment and law enforcement leaders have told me that this rhetoric is fueling already heightened concerns about political violence heading into the November election. Those concerns, they said, stem foremost from domestic far-right extremist groups and Trump's MAGA movement.

The incompetence was so astounding that I find his take somewhat plausible.
Having said that, it's irresponsible to make this type of allegation without solid proof.

When's the last time you heard either of them speak and didn't say "Whaaaaaaat?" to yourself?

A deranged kid with easy access to a gun and ammunition tried to kill Trump.
This is dangerous talk. And obviously the accusation effectively PO's Democrats. Especially when many Dems are outspoken against political violence or any violence.
But this is not surprising.

The shooter was a repug using the GQP's favorite weapon. Vance lies almost as much as the orange pedo.

The shots came from inside the house of horrors, JayDee, from inside your own digs. Lol.

@#5 ... Vance lies almost as much as the orange pedo. ...
Give Sen Vance some time to ramp it up.
He's only been on the ticket for a short while.

It's stupid to think it's even "plausible" without solid evidence.

The Trump folks spend more time lying than telling the truth.

Probably because lies are all they got.

All we really know is he was a registered 20-year-old republicl0wn with a rifle who climbed up on a roof aimed it at Trumpanzee and shot... you can go through all the theorizing you want it won't change the facts. Why doesn't matter... he knew who he was aiming at. He made a choice... according to "sources" it was close... barely missed... sounds intentional... not suicide by cop... I don't think he was planning on leaving the planet alone.
Justifying his reasoning is moot.

I've not seen any reporting about the DoJ's determination of his reasoning.
So that is still an unknown.
Moot? No.
Unknown? Yes.

He already voted in the Russian "election". Non US citizens can't vote in our elections.

A grubby fake hillbilly techbro playing second banana to Fat Liberace, the thirty-four times convicted felon, really isn't a good look.

Ah the constant barrage of lies, disinformation, and outright mythology on the right. Just how could they exist outside of their 'Little Orange Colored Bubble Trumpinverse'?
The sad answer for many of them is, 'they no longer can'. Too far down the rabbit hole...

Typical Rightwing resident DR lunatics are not touching this thread. Not even THEY can defend Sha-Dy Vance's lying rhetoric.

Well, no, some kid with one of the 44 million AR15 type assault rifles did what many have done, utilized suicide by cop as a way out of this life. The Republican Party is very ok with how armed and dangerous our population is, the shooting was on them.

I said the same thing and JD Vance makes a legitimate point. Republicans did not staff the US Secret Service. They did not appoint a clueless woman as head of USSS that made gender and sex and DEI as her major priority in staffing including the woman that allegedly did the assessment planning. If the same thing happened (but it would not) if Republicans were in charge and some Democrats were shot you can bet the Democrats would be making same accusation.
Any party or institution or corporation that puts DEI first needs charged with gross incompetence.

What specifically is plausible about the idea that democrats are responsible for a republican gun nut taking a shot at Trump?
