Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Thursday he supported Kamala Harris in November's US presidential election, an apparent wry remark that led to a renewed call from Washington for the Kremlin to "stop interfering". Putin was speaking a day after the United States issued indictments accusing Moscow of vote interference. The Kremlin leader frequently comments on political and social issues in the United States, often in a mocking way. He said last year that the US political system was "rotten" and that Washington could not lecture other countries about democracy. US officials have repeatedly warned of efforts by foreign powers to meddle in the upcoming US election, accusing Moscow of seeking to influence US ballots dating back to the 2016 contest between Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton.

"Firstly, (US President Joe) Biden recommended all his supporters support Mrs Harris," Putin said during a question and answer session at Russia's Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.

Biden withdrew from the race in July amid concerns about his age and health, endorsing Vice President Harris to top the Democratic Party's ticket.

"Here, we are going to do that too, we're going to support her," Putin told the audience, with a wry smile.

"She laughs so contagiously that it shows that everything is fine with her," the Russian leader said.

No invasion; they're just sightseeing. A few hundred thousand of the Russians liked Ukraine so much that they will never leave, opting to become soil fertilizer instead.

Is this like a, 'even Vlad wouldn't support a criminal and a traitor!'.

Or is it more like Vlad being, "wry":

using or expressing dry, especially mocking, humor.
"a wry smile"

Pay attention to what they do, not what they say.

Or put another way: Follow the money.

To wit:

"Two employees of RT, the Russian state media network, were indicted in a US court for allegedly being part of a scheme that funneled nearly $10 million to set up and direct a Tennessee-based front company to produce online content aimed at sowing divisions among Americans, according to the Justice Department.

Taken together, the actions represent the Biden administration's most significant public response yet to alleged Russian influence operations targeting American voters.

After the US accused Iran of trying to hack both the Trump and Biden-Harris campaigns last month, Wednesday's expected actions are a reminder that US officials continue to see Russia as a prominent foreign influence threat to November's election, the sources said."

If you're dumb enough to believe him still you probably lost your black cherry to the first person who learned you were such a chump.

Does Putin know his MAGA audience or what?:

Prominent lawmakers and propagandists on Russian state TV frequently admit that Russia is still interested in propping up "Trumpushka." A phony "endorsement" of Vice President Kamala Harris by Russian President Vladimir Putin was designed to boost Russia's favorite contender--like a previous attempt to smear U.S. President Joe Biden by claiming to support his re-election in his interview with Carlson. At the time, state TV propagandists proudly described this effort to mislead Americans as Putin carefully planted "info-bombs and mines" during his sit-down with Carlson.

After airing a clip with Putin's comments, claiming to support the presidential candidacy of Harris, Solovyov laughed and promised that gullible Americans will believe that Putin was serious.

Shrugging off the pretense and refusing to play along with Putin's charade, Andrey Sidorov, deputy dean of world politics at the Moscow State University, insisted, "I will always root for Trump. Trump is a direct path to civil war in the United States."
