Well, that was fun, Sitz.
But it doesn't change the fact that government isn't doing anything government hasn't been doing.
The problem is the consequences of corporate-driven policy (mostly enacted by GOP, but some Dem as well) was usually borne by others, so middle America, even the lower end of middle America, were fine with it as it still gave them a semblance of "success." "Success" meant cheap stuff. Lots and lots of cheap stuff.
Which is why the vast majority of America has had zero to very little savings my entire life. The same problems that existed when I first started paying attention to politics in college still exist today, just worse as the problematic policies that caused them to have been further entrenched and widened.
Immigration? Everyone accepts the cheaper produce, food, construction costs ect while acting fauxraged during election season.
Poor or stagnant wages? Been that way my entire life.
Costs of goods and services? Have been going up every year since I was born and inflation during COVID has hit globally hard.
Housing costs? Has been out of reach for most of my generation for as long as I've been interested in buying one. Funny enough, the most successful in that regard are people I went to high school with because housing in the area of NYS where I grew up is still absurdly comparatively cheap. Literally, a house on the market right now is over $100K less than I sold mine for about a year ago and it's twice the size...
This is a self-inflicted would and the people most responsible for it are the ones that are, inexplicably, being turned to to "fix it."
