Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

President-elect Trump is appointing Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead an effort to cut government spending, eliminate regulations and restructure federal agencies. To give you an idea of how clownish the project already is, they're calling it the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Dogecoin is the name of a cryptocoin created as a joke to mock crytocurrency speculation. People bought it for the lulz and it's currently worth 39 cents.

"President-elect Donald Trump picked Tesla CEO Elon Musk and biotech company founder Vivek Ramaswamy, a former Republican presidential candidate, to lead an effort to cut spending, eliminate regulations and restructure federal agencies."

What he is proposing is nothing new; it's called "Austerity" and they did it in Great Britaib and it caused much unhappiness and lon term accomplished nothing. Musk's proposal causes paib only for yhe working class none for the rich! Kill the programs that care for our elders (me) and replace them with nothing. Kill ACA a/k/a Obamacare and leave millios with nothing, L think thst's what MAGA means; If you don't have cash to pay forb healthcarem sorry you die! Oh well!

To propose Austerity here, now in th United States is unnevessary and just evil. Our economy is doing very well despite the lies from Trump and Republicans. There is absolutely no nrrf tocut two trillion from the budget. What's needed is to let the Trump tax cuts for the billionaires expire as it is scheduled to in 2025. If it does our deficit stops growing amd wre start paying down debt as Bill Clinton proved and in doing so he set off the greatest economy and growth in wea;th since FDR.
Historically in our history from the 60s to todqy there is only one "big dog" and it ASN'T EVER bUDSH OR tRUMP!

He will make those permanent. Probably, like everything else, on Day One.

This administration's guiding principles: Immaturity and contempt.

That matches their miserable base's guiding "principles."

We all know what "efficiency" means here.

It's how can we redirect the most money possible to our pockets.

I wouldn't be surprised if the bloat remains largely intact, they'll just direct the money to fewer, more favorable sources.

This is a clear case of price manipulation. Doge was trading at 16 cents on election day. Jumped to .21 on wed, fell to .19 Thursday. Then on Monday, a day before the announcement, the price spiked to .35, making all of Elon's Doge holdings worth more than double what they were a week prior.

The fix here is just to put the taxes back in place back to at least 2000. No cuts needed. Adjust for inflation sure...

Y2K taxation level would get you +2-3% at best. That's not enough to cover the existing deficit, let alone pay down existing debt.

If it takes two people to be in charge of an imaginary effeciency department neither of them are good enough to run a real agency.

Apropos of Elon & Vivek's excellent efficiency adventure, back in 1989 Bush sr set VP Dan Quayle up with something called The Council on Competitiveness. It was basically a backroom operation where corps cld toss in a few bucks and get a regulation killed. This will be the same.

Leon and Vivek don't wan stupid people to apply:

Department of Government Efficiency
@DOGE
We are very grateful to the thousands of Americans who have expressed interest in helping us at DOGE. We don't need more part-time idea generators. We need super high-IQ small-government revolutionaries willing to work 80+ hours per week on unglamorous cost-cutting. If that's you, DM this account with your CV. Elon & Vivek will review the top 1% of applicants.
